Spring Clean Your Online Clutter

When most people think of "spring cleaning," they think of physically cleaning their home and organizing closets and pantries. While all of that is great, and things that we should do, today we're focusing on a messier aspect of our lives: our online selves. Here are quick and easy ways to spring clean your online clutter.

  • First off, physically clean your phone. Wipe it down with a clorox wipe or something because phones can be nasty
  • Look through all your apps and delete anything that you haven't used in a week. If you haven't used it in a week, chances are you don't need it.
  • Go through your photos. Delete anything you don't love. Back up the rest.

  • Go through the mess that is your desktop. Delete anything unimportant, file anything that is important, and back up all important documents to an external flashdrive.
  • Delete any apps that you don't use frequently.
  • Back up anything sentimental (like pictures or videos) to a cloud or disk.

Social Media
  • Delete anything super embarrassing that you would hate anyone seeing
  • Update profile pictures on your public profiles (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Double check privacy settings on all social media accounts, and change passwords if it's been a while
These are all really simple things that you can do all at once or over the span of days or weeks. Let me know if there's anything you think should be added to this post in the comments!
