What's in My School Backpack?

Hi guys!
It's been a while since I've done a what's in my bag video, and since school started, I thought it would be the perfect time to do one with my backpack. Excuse the really bad quality and the different background, but I moved into a new apartment so I'll be filming on my phone for the next few videos.

Items Mentioned:
Lunch Bag

The things that I carry with me vary from day to day depending on the classes that I have, and the things I'm planning on doing, but this is generally how my bag looks! Let me know in the comments what other types of blog posts or videos you'd like to see, and also tell me what your school bag staples are!

How to Style 3 Fall Dresses With Tobi

Hi guys!
Tobi is one of my all time favorite online retailers, so I was super excited when they reached out to me to do a fall style collaboration. I was sent three different dresses that I styled for the fall. I wanted to dress them for different occasions, so one is perfect for a night out, another is great for school, and the last is good for fancier events. All of the dresses are linked on the individual dress names, but Tobi has so much great clothes (and they always have sales going), so I highly recommend browsing if you're looking to replenish your fall wardrobe!

Annabelle Bodycon Dress: Styled for a Night Out
This dress is so sexy with the deep neckline and how it's laced up the front. The dress is made of a really nice, thick fabric, so you feel really secure, and you can tie the front yourself, which lets you choose how much to show. For this I threw an oversized burgundy button up over it because it can be cold at night during the Fall. I paired it with nude wedges, but I think that it would be killer with a pair of over the knee boots or even a pair of black booties. This dress is such a statement piece on its own, but I added a chunky necklace and a silver clutch to round it out.

Spin Me Around Tie Wrap Dress: Styled for School
This is such a great transition piece between Summer and Fall because it is light enough that you can still wear it while the weather's warm, but once it cools down you could add a cardigan and boots and be good to go. I styled this one for school, so I paired it with a pair of high top black sneakers. I do a lot of walking around campus, so comfortable shoes are a must. I also accessorized with a black choker because it adds something interesting without looking too fancy. I finished this look with my everyday faux leather black backpack!

Eryca Cut Out Mini Dress: Styled for a Girls Night Out
If I had to choose a dress to be my favorite, this might be it. The fabric is super thick and super warm, so it is perfect for Fall when the weather cools down. The cut out in the back adds something interesting to the otherwise conservative dress, but doesn't reveal too much. I styled this one for a girls night out. For shoes I wore my favorite pair of calf high boots. I think that this dress works super well with boots and could look amazing with a nice pair of ankle booties too! I didn't accessorize with any jewelry (besides the watch I always wear) because the neckline is so high and it could look too busy. To finish it off, I paired it with a small black purse.

I have never had a bad experience ordering with Tobi and you definitely get really quality pieces from them. I absolutely adore everything I got and I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of all of these dresses. Let me know in the comments which of the three outfits you like the best and check out Tobi for some amazing Fall dresses!

Best Sustainability Blogs

Every couple of months I become super inspired and want to reduce my carbon footprint and be green. This is one of those months. The other day a youtube video about zero waste guru Lauren Singer popped up in my youtube suggestions, which started my kick. Here are four of my favorite blogs about being greener and more sustainable.

This is my newest blog obsession. The photography on this blog is always on point and the content is always a great mix of ideas on how to reduce waste and some out of the box ideas on how she lives minimally.

This is seriously the OG blog for me! It's written by Lauren Singer who has produced less than a quart sized mason jar of trash in the past three years. She has a whole bunch of hacks for living less wastefully and she makes really quick youtube videos too. Also, if you have 8 minutes to kill, this video that MSNBC did on her is incredible.

Bea is actually the most inspiring person and is such a pioneer when it comes to waste reduction. Her blog is different than the other two because it has fewer tips on transitioning (although she wrote an entire book on that), and it's more about how she maintains her lifestyle when she travels.

This is not at all an environmental blog, but minimalism at its core is consuming less, which ties in to sustainability. I found these guys around a year ago and have listened to their podcasts religiously for a few months. Minimalism isn't for everyone, but the way they present it isn't at all intimidating and makes a lot of sense.

Let me know in the comments if you read any of these blogs or if you have any recommendations for me!

15 Ways to Make Fall Better

Hi guys!
We are just days away from Fall 2K16! Fall is one of my favorite seasons because the weather cools down, the boots come out, and I can drink all the pumpkin spice drinks I want. If you're not a fall person, or if you want to make this fall the best ever, here are 15 things to do!

1) Fall Fragrances
The easiest way to transition from summer to fall is through scents. In Nevada where I live there's not much that screams "fall." The weather is constantly sunny, it's been a pretty constant 88° for the last month, and it very much still looks like summer. But when I go in to my room and I have my pumpkin scented wallflower plugged in, it's fall. I absolutely adore the heavy, spiced, pumpkin scents out this time of year, and I highly recommend burning a candle or plugging in a wallflower. (P.S. my favorite BABW scents are Leaves, Pumpkin Cupcake, and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin).

2) Flannels
I've actually never owned a flannel until this past week. I always thought it was overrated and too "mainstream" for me. Granted, it probably is a little too "basic" in Hawaii where it never dips below 75°, but it is actually great if you live somewhere with an actual fall. You can take really cute fall themed instagrams with leggings, boots, and a pumpkin spice latte in hand. If you're someone like me who's never bought one before, I'd highly recommend looking in the guys section. I was at GAP the other day and got a guys shirt for $15 when the women's ones were less cute and double the price.

3) Pumpkin Spice Everything
Nowadays people associate pumpkin spice lattes (especially from Starbucks) with "basic" people, but I say embrace it. Go get your pumpkin spice lattes and instagram them proudly. Buy the weird fall themed processed junk (how can they make marshmallows pumpkin spice?!?!) and enjoy them.

4) Journal
Journaling is so beneficial. It gives you a place to write out your goals, thoughts, dreams... Write daily. It doesn't need to be a lot, it doesn't need to be good. You're writing for your future self so you can remember each day as it was. My "journaling" is literally just a list of three things that happened/I'm thankful for/I did that I write every day (or when I remember it). Also, let's be real, there's nothing more aesthetically pleasing than someone journaling in a coffee shop during the fall.

5) Read
Fall and winter are great because they give you a reason to stay in. When the weather's too cold and you couldn't imagine changing out of your sweats and going to a party, pull out a book. Reading is the greatest. Read something old, read something new, read something that can help improve your life. No matter what you read, it's better than watching Friends on Netflix for the billionth time.

6) Be Present
TURN OFF YOUR PHONE NOTIFICATIONS. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY. LOOK UP. Phones are great, but they also suck the life out of you. Sometimes we get so distracted with what's going on digitally that we forget to stay present. The easiest way to resolve that is to turn off your phone notifications. Maybe not all of them (you probably still want to see texts, calls, and emails), but go into instagram and change your settings so you don't see a constant stream of "____ like's your photo" after you post something. Also, when you're walking, put the phone away and look up. It's partially for your safety (we don't want anyone walking into poles), but it also helps keep you in the present.

7) Make a New Playlist
Put all your favorite relaxing songs on it. Make it good, and listen to it whenever you need a pick me up.

8) Get Outside
Fall is BEAUTIFUL! It's cold enough that you can go on a walk and not sweat everywhere, but it's not too cold that it becomes unbearable to be outside for long periods of time. Find a park, walk though a new part of town, go on a hike. Nature is beautiful!

9) Prioritize Yourself
The holiday season is always a hot mess. You're trying to shop for everyone else and it is so hard to focus on yourself during the winter. Enjoy the serenity of fall by staying on top of the things you need to, treating yourself, and taking care of yourself the way you should.

10) Get a Flu Shot
Disclaimer here, my mom literally teaches people about vaccines for a living, so I might be a bit biased, but there is seriously nothing better than getting a flu shot. I got mine this past weekend and it was free, painless, and in a month I'll be immune against three strains of flu. There is nothing worse than being sick, and the flu shot actually works. Last year I was one of the only ones in my suite that got the shot and I was the only that never got sick. Coincidence? Maybe, but I wouldn't want to chance getting the plague flu.

11) Make a Goal
Make yourself a goal of how you want fall to feel. This shouldn't be things that you feel you need to do to make fall great, but it should be something deeper. For example, I want fall to feel spontaneous and fun. Once you figure out your feelings, write it somewhere you'll see it and make sure that you're taking actions to achieve those feelings every day.

12) Declutter
Now is the perfect time to declutter your wardrobe when your in the midst of packing up your summer clothes and unpacking your winter ones. Get rid of anything damaged, the wrong size, or unloved, and donate it/sell it/gift it.

13) Drink More (Water)
For me, when the weather cools down, I am less likely to remember to stay hydrated. Fall is the season of warm drinks, but both coffee and teas can act as diuretics, so it is so important to replenish your fluids! Try to aim for half your body weight in ounces a day, and remember to drink first thing in the morning because you lose a lot of water when you're asleep!

14) Cook!
I love cooking and I adore being in the kitchen. I know not all of you will feel the same, but for me, there's nothing better than baking a pie or roasting some veggies on a Sunday. You can start practicing recipes for an epic Friendsgiving or Thanksgiving or bake for the fun of it. Here's some recipes to get you started.

15) Lose Expectations
With instagram, it is so easy to compare your life to everyone else's. Lose your expectations of what fall "should be" and just live. Sometimes the best things happen when you least expect it.

Let's make this fall season better than the others! Let me know in the comments if you have any other things to add to my list or if you have anything you're looking forward to this fall! Also, I have a whole bunch of exciting posts coming soon, so make sure you're staying connected on bloglovin!

My Week on Instagram #41

Hi guys!
This week's MWOI post is going to be different because I'm going to be combining posts from both of my instagrams (my personal and food one). I usually keep these posts centered on my personal instagram (@miss_sienna), but I only posted once there and once on my foodie one (@siennasfoodpics), so I thought why not share both.

Saturday 9/18
My mom was in Reno for the weekend because she wanted to make a stopover in Nevada to see me after her work conference in Atlanta. She had never seen my college campus because when I toured the first time she needed to stay at the hotel with my sister and when I moved into the dorm last year, there wasn't time to show her everything. While I gave her the grand tour, she took a picture of me by Manzanita lake, the giant man made lake on campus. The picture ended up looking super nice, so I decided to post it.

Saturday 9/18
This picture was posted on the same day on my food account! Last semester a restaurant opened up near campus that I am absolutely obsessed with. My mom had never eaten there before, so I decided to take her for lunch. The salad in the picture was super good (not usually a fan of radishes, but in the salad it was great), and we ended up eating most of it. The picture quality of this is actually terrible, so I apologize for that, but I think instagram compressed it weird when I uploaded it.

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you did, please follow my instagram accounts @miss_sienna or @siennasfoodpics and let me know in the comments what types of posts you'd like to see! I have a super exciting fall fashion post coming in the very near future!

My Week on Instagram #40

Hi guys!
It's been a few weeks since my last MWOI post, but I finally posted some new pictures to share with you! If you've followed my travel blog (click here), you already know that I went to the Great Reno Balloon Races last week, which is where my pictures are from!

A photo posted by SIENNA 🦄 (@miss_sienna) on

Friday 9/9/16
On Friday I went to the balloon races with two of my friends. We went super early so we could be there when all the balloons took off. The weather there was super nice, especially because when I went last year the weather wasn't the greatest.

Saturday 9/10/16
This picture was taken on Friday although the balloon races ran on Saturday and Sunday too. Saturday night I went to a concert (YG, Louis the Child, Zella Day...) with a whole bunch of my friends, but I didn't get to take any pictures when I was there :(

So I hope you enjoyed this week's post! If you've missed any of my previous MWOI posts, you can click here! Also, let me know in the comments what types of videos/posts you'd like to see for Fall!

Cheap Women's Dresses for Fall (FASHIONMIA)

Hi guys!
If you're anything like me, you're probably really excited for fall fashion! I did a wishlist last week of all the fall tones I'm inspired with (click here if you missed it!), but today I thought I'd switch it up! We're going to be talking FALL DRESSES today!

Fashionmia is a store that sells women's clothing online. From their website it looks like they have a lot of cute clothes cheap women's dresses, tops, bottoms, and outerwear. While looking at their site, these are the dresses that screamed "FALL" to me!

This dress doesn't necessarily scream fall, but I think that it is a perfect transition piece from summer to fall. Here in Reno it's been in the 80°s most days (although it snowed in the mountains yesterday?!?!), so I like how the lace is both covered yet breathable.

Another untraditional fall dress, but I am obsessed with the print on this one! It's an edgier way to play into the fall/winter nature vibe. I could see this being cute worn as it is on the model while the weather is warm, but it could look equally cute with leggings and boots once the weather cools down.

I live for denim, especially in the fall time. This dress is such a blank canvas and can be styled so many different ways. I could totally see this being an everyday dress staple in my wardrobe.

Who doesn't love plaid for the fall? This is a different take on the typical one and can be dressed up and down with accessories. I like how it's so neutral because it's different from the bright ones that are ubiquitous this time of year.

If you don't like any of these dresses, don't worry! They have plenty of other cheap women's dresses and women's clothing online. I've never bought anything from Fashionmia, but it all looks really cute. Let me know in the comments if you've bought anything from them and what your most excited to wear during the fall! I think that I'm most excited to pull out my boots from the back of my closet!

Life Update: Sophomore Year, New Apartment, and More!

Hi guys!
Instead of the usual beauty or fashion related post, I thought that today I would do a life update for you. I am currently back in Nevada for my sophomore year of college and I feel like a lot has happened since I've done a post like this.

If you've been watching my youtube videos (click here), you probably know that I moved into my new apartment a few weeks ago. I finally feel like I am completely at home in my apartment because I've settled on a routine for everything like cooking, cleaning, studying, and all that. Last year I was in a dorm, and while that was super convenient, I much prefer living in an apartment because of the space that I have!

This semester is brutal. I am taking 18 credits and my classes include physics, organic chemistry, sociology, statistics, a bio lab, and Nevada history. It is a very full workload, and I am still trying to figure out how to best manage my time. Despite the difficulty of the classes I'm taking, I still can't help but be excited because I am finally taking classes that challenge me and are applicable to my major. I'm also doing an independent study course where I teach a small group of students and do biology problem sets with them, which has pushed me well out of my comfort zone in the best possible way.

If you're a longtime reader, you probably know that last year I struggled with keeping in touch with my friends from home. That is still very much the case (and the time differences don't help), but I am making a conscious effort to text all of my close friends at least once a week and facetime as much as possible. Here in Nevada, my social life has definitely changed, especially because I am not in the dorms and constantly surrounded by people. I've been a lot more cognizant of making friends with the people in my classes this year and I really think that I'm much more social now, then ever before.

I hate using the word "transition" to describe this time in my life because I like to think the main "transition" was last year when I transitioned from high school to college, but I guess that's what this is. I feel myself becoming more independent and more adult-like (though I wouldn't use the word "adult" to describe myself at all). I've been texting one of my friends from back home and he constantly tells me "this is the best and most happy I've ever seen you." I'm the happiest I've been in a while (I'm not sure why) and I have a great feeling about this semester and school year.

Okay, finishing it off with the stuff that'll impact you guys! I've completely stopped posting on what used to be my personal blog because it was just so neglected that it wasn't worth reviving (lol). I will continue to post here regularly, and I have some super exciting things coming up (like a collab with Tobi!) I also have my travel blog, but I won't be traveling until I go back to Hawaii during the winter, so I'm not sure how much love it'll get until then. Lastly, I'm going to try my best to post weekly on my youtube channel :)

Sorry for the long update, but I wanted to share! Let me know in the comments what type of blog posts/youtube videos you would like to see in the future and also let me know how your life is going (I really want to know!)

Friday, September 2, 2016

Most of you know that I moved in to a new apartment for the school year, so I thought that I would do a room/bathroom tour for you! I haven't had a chance to set everything up yet, but I was so excited to show you the room, so excuse any messiness that you see! I'm going to try and film a video of the living room/communal spaces soon, so subscribe so you don't miss that!

I hope that you enjoyed this video, and if you did, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe! Also, let me know what other videos you would like to see. I left my DSLR back home, so I'll probably be using my phone to film this semester, but I think that I want to do some school videos (what's in my backpack, study tips...) next!

FALL TONES (clothing wishlist)

Hi guys!
It's officially September, and pumpkin spice returns to Starbucks next week, so it's officially fall (jk, not really). In honor of the changing seasons, I thought I'd do a widget of clothing in "fall tones." This is shopable, so click on an image to get more details about the item!

Some of these items are really good transition pieces, such as the light scarf, short sleeved dress, suede skirt, and open toed booties! These items are good for warm weather because they're lighter than winter clothing, but are still in fall colors so they work well for the season! I am also obsessed with a nice hat and over the knee boots (although I personally have neither of them)!

Let me know in the comments what your favorite color to wear during the fall is! I tend to wear a lot of black and burgundy, but I love the deep orange and camel colors as well. Also, follow this blog on bloglovin by clicking the widget below so you don't miss any future posts!
