My Biggest College Pet Peeve
College: teenagers getting their first taste of independence. It seems like the perfect place for annoyances to accumulate with young adults straddling the line between adulthood and childhood dependence. I have a pretty high tolerance for bullshit, but today, I'm going to share with you the one thing that bothers me more than anything else in college. This is my biggest college pet peeve:
People not taking responsibility for their education and blaming others for their problems.
That's the vaguest way to put it, but it's true and happens a lot. For example, there are so many people that talk about how shitty their professors are. These are the same people that never attend class, that don't go to office hours, that don't study, procrastinate, and generally don't try. As I speak, I can hear someone talking about how shitty this econ professor is on the phone. All I want to say to these people is "bitch please. Go to class, try a little, and then get back to me." Sure, there are professors that are hard. That will make you work for a good grade, but that doesn't make them shitty. There are also professors that can't lecture effectively, but that doesn't make them shitty either. If you are doing everything in your power to try and succeed, you can't possibly fail. There are definitely professors that are less than satisfactory, but unless you've done everything you can and still don't get it, I don't think you can blame them for your problems.
So that's it! That's my biggest pet peeve and my rant about this! I think that people use "shitty professors" as an excuse for their bad grades when they don't apply themselves as they should, and it is seriously annoying. Let me know what your biggest pet peeves are in the comments!
