9 Hair Accessories To Stay Warm and Fashionable

We're in the midst of winter and some of you might be searching for that perfect accessory. I'm not a huge hair accessory person myself, mostly because I tend to run around between classes and it can get a little too hot for me. But if you're looking for a cute hat or headband, I gotchu covered! Here are 9 of my favorites!

So most of these are pretty basic. Like the usual wintery cable knit things that are soooo "tumblr worthy." I like those and I think that if you're only going to get one, a cable knit one in a neutral color could be great! My personal favorite one from this collage is the one smack dab in the middle. I love the blue and pink because it's such a cute pop of color without being too over the top or crazy!

Let me know what types of accessories you like to wear in the winter! I usually go for an infinity scarf instead of beanies or headbands, but I'd love to hear what you like to do! Also, this is completely interactive, so click on an accessory if you'd like to purchase it!

5 Breathtaking US Nature Spots to Visit Before You Die

The United States has some incredible scenery that's often under appreciated. From Texas to Virginia and California, here are 5 breathtaking spots you can't miss!

1) Palo Duro (Texas)
The Palo Duro canyon is located in the heart of the Texas Panhandle and is the second largest canyon in the US. Doesn't this look like such an amazing place to hike or explore?

2) Yellowstone (Wyoming)
There are so many different hot springs and geysers in Yellowstone. If that's not your thing, then maybe the bears and wildlife are.

3) Great Falls (Virginia)
Great Falls is one of the first canals built in America. The Potomac river runs through it and looks incredible. After you've taken your pictures, you can also go climbing on the rocks.

4) Napa Valley (California)
Most people go to Napa for the wine, but look at that scenery! There's nothing better than eating good food, drinking great wine, and watching the sun set over the vineyards.

5) Yosemite (California)
Yosemite is located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. Most people go to see the Falls, but this area is great for hiking, climbing, and adventuring through the forests.

This is only the start of the United States nature spots to visit before you die and doesn't even begin to cover all that there is.

Friendships: How to Make Them, Keep Them, and Lose Them

Hi guys!
Today's video is a little bit different from the others that I've done. It's an advice video all about friendships. Friendships definitely change and evolve with age and since I've been in college I've experienced that first hand. Here are some of my tips to help you have better relationships with your friends!

I think that these tips apply to everyone no matter the age, but are especially applicable to other college students (like myself) because your friendships from home definitely go through the ringer as you try to adapt to adult life and independence. Let me know in the comments your top tips for friendship especially if you're in college or older because I'd love to get some tips from people that have experienced more in life! Also, please give this video a thumbs up if you like it and subscribe for more!

Belated 3 Year Blogiversary

Guys I'm such a doofus! I totally forgot about my blogiversary until today... Almost two weeks after it happened! Anyway, I thought that it would be fun to reflect on the past year (and three years) of blogging! BTW the actual anniversary was 1/15 if you were wondering!

The 3 Year Stats:

What Happened This Past Year...

I turned 18 and reflected on 18 things I've accomplished in life. I ran an 8 week summer challenge called "Stylish Summer". It wasn't a huge success, but I got to experiment with new types of content (like those weekly workout videos!) and got to experience what it's like to plan content for an extended period of time. I moved to Reno to go to college and began adventuring in to the world that is college related content! I've done it all from food hauls to dorm tours, follow me around vlogs, and days in my life! I created a weekly series here on this blog where I share the behind the scenes of a week's worth of instagram posts! It's called "My Week on Instagram" and it helps me reflect on life and share hilarious stories with you!

My Goals For This Year...
I want to experiment with new types of editing and videos! I really want to do more of my Snapstory videos because I am obsessed with how my Hawaii video turned out! I want to collaborate more and make more friends with other bloggers and readers! I want to hit 1,000 blog posts on this blog (I can do that for sure!) and I'd like to get a few hundred more followers on bloglovin. I want to give back more and do more giveaways! :) I want to be better at social media (I stopped using twitter and I don't think I'm going back!) Especially tumblr and instagram!

This year was probably my favorite year of blogging and youtubing. I guess from a business sense it was probably my least successful because there were periods of time where my growth plateaued, but I truly love all the content that I put out and I am genuinely proud of everything I've accomplished. This is year four of blogging, which is just crazy to think about! I will continue blogging this year and I don't have plans of stopping anytime soon. Thank you so much for reading my blog you have seriously impacted my life in the most amazing way and I'm stoked to take on blogging year 4!

The 5 Best Things About the Apple Watch

I've been bonding with my Apple Watch for a month now, and I have fallen absolutely head over heels in love with it! Here are the five best things about the Apple Watch!

1) Fitness Tracking
I used to have a FitBit that I wore everywhere because I loved the fitness tracking aspect of it. The Apple Watch is similar as it tracks your steps, calories burnt, activity, etc... But it's better! I love how it buzzes so you know when you're too sedentary and need to stand, and the progress updates throughout the day are so motivating and help keep me accountable.

2) Notifications
I can now put my phone in my purse and not worry about missing anything because the watch will get calls, texts, and notifications from apps! It's so useful when you're in sensitive situations where you can't necessarily pull out a phone (like in class, meetings, dinners...) but still want to stay connected.

3) Customization
You can customize your watch face in so many different ways! I use the "Modular" one with the date, clock, activity, temperature, battery, and the Honolulu time. All of these are super helpful for me for various reasons and I love having everything I need right in front of me. It also looks really clean and the customization is just really nice!

4) Maps
I have used my watch when driving with maps and I really liked it. The watch will vibrate when you need to turn and just works really seamlessly with an iPhone, so you get a really good experience! I was really impressed with it, and it's so much nicer than just using your phone and being confused whether you're supposed to turn at this street or the next one...

5) Text
I know some people don't like texting with the watch because you can only dictate or use the preset texts, but it's really helpful when you're in busy situations and can't be bothered with full replies. For example, it's easy to hit the "I'm on my way" button when you're driving (stopped at a stoplight) instead of texting and driving, which is illegal depending on where you live and extremely dangerous if you're not stopped.

I'm so happy with my watch and there's a lot that I'm loving about it! Definitely the first three are the best things about the watch for me! I haven't gone a day without wearing it yet, which is a great sign, and I can't see myself stopping any time soon!

My Week on Instagram #14

I've been posting "My Week on Instagram" posts every Monday, so that's what we're doing today! I didn't post much this week, but here's the behind the scenes of everything I did!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Monday 1/18

Monday was my first real day back in Reno, but I didn't have school because of MLK day. I had (and still have) a ton of pictures from Hawaii that I wanted to post! This was taken from lunch with a couple of my friends. It was an acai bowl and a green juice from this amazing place called Salted Lemon. I reviewed it on my travel blog, so if you'd like to hear about it, click here!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Thursday 1/21
This was another one of those pictures from Hawaii that I wanted to post! My mom took this picture when we were walking along the beach one morning. I was holding my sister's dress up because the waves were slightly higher than usual and she didn't want it to get wet!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Saturday 1/23
My dad was in town Friday afternoon and all of Saturday, so we decided to go to a Reno Bighorns basketball game Saturday night. It was pretty empty, but we had really amazing seats. After halftime the two guys sitting next to me left and the mascot sat down next to me. It was so funny and I needed to get a picture! The game was pretty good (although Reno won by a lot), but the mascot was definitely the highlight of everything!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Sunday 1/24
We both look really gross and dead in this picture, but that's why I made it black and white :P This picture was taken at the Reno Bighorns game that we went to! Now, the caption sounds pretty bizarre, but the full story behind that is that United Airlines canceled his flight from Sacramento to San Francisco and wouldn't schedule him on a different airline. They wanted him to wait until Friday night (like we're talking midnight), which would've cut his visit in half, so instead of doing that he took an uber to San Francisco to catch his flight to Reno!
I hope you enjoyed this post! It was a bit shorter than my previous ones, but I've been busy with school and haven't taken many pictures since I've been back! My instagram handle is @miss_sienna if you'd like to follow me!

9 Scarves To Keep You Warm this Winter

It's pretty well in to winter this year, and it seems pretty good! Winter has started early in Reno, but it's pretty mild right now. I know that the east coast has gotten snow late this year and my brother says that it's a warm winter in Japan, so all seems well! But that doesn't mean that we still don't need scarves! Scarves are great for style, comfort, and warmth and have become statement pieces in their own right these past few years. Here are 9 to check out!

Blanket scarves are so trendy! I don't personally have one, but I love the way they look and they seem super warm and comfortable! Infinity scarves are by far my favorite, and if you need to invest in one scarf, I would say a knit infinity scarf in a neutral color can get you through anything! I'm originally from Hawaii, so I'm slowly but surely building up my collection, and the two scarves I have right now are both knit infinities.

Let me know in the comments what types of scarves you like, and if you fancy any one of these scarves, you can click on the picture to purchase!

Winter Snapstory

There's nothing better than a month in Hawaii during the winter. Trading in the frigid cold, snowy mountains, and icy roads for palm trees and beaches was amazing! I compiled all my snapchats (all of the ones on my story and some personal ones to friends) in this video!

If you're interested in what I did or where I ate, I've been posting reviews of the restaurants I went to (so much brunch!) on my travel blog Sisi Travels. You can also follow me on snapchat @misssienna if you want to see all my snaps! I haven't been posting much since I came back to Reno, but I want to start getting back in to it!

5 New Semester Goals

New semester, new me? My second semester of college starts tomorrow and I've been thinking that there's things I can do better. Don't get me wrong, I didn't do badly the first semester, but now that I "get" it, I can start to improve and make changes. Here are 5 goals for me!

1) Wake Up Earlier
I have 8:00 classes this semester. That's obviously not ideal and I would way rather sleep in, but you gotta deal with what's given to you! I want to wake up earlier so that I can stay aware and awake in class. I want to make sure that I'm fully awake (hopefully without caffeine) before my first class and that I'm not still drowsy when I should be learning. This also kind of goes along with going to sleep earlier and just generally taking care of myself so I stay energized and ready to learn.

2) Procrastinate Less
I have a feeling that there's going to be a couple papers that I'll need to write for my Humanities class, but everything else is either science or math based, so not so many projects this semester... I want to start studying earlier (for tests and finals), I want to get my homework done sooner rather than later, and I want to have my shit together!

3) Get Help
I am going in to this semester already feeling like I'm going to need help with Calculus. Calc 1 wasn't a piece of cake for me and was my worst class, and calc 2 seems even more difficult. I want to make sure that I start to set myself up to succeed by getting help, even when I think that I can teach myself the material, because chances are, I can't.

4) Have Fun
I love school, education, and learning. I go through phases where I forget this and I am miserable in school and I feel like a slave to the system. I really want to make sure that I stay positive, feel blessed, and fall in love with learning because that's when I do the best. I do think that this will be easier this semester as more of my classes are major specific (and I'm especially looking forward to my bio class!)

5) Stay Organized
I want to make sure that this semester I have my shit together. This is definitely a recurring theme in my life, but it's something that is super important to me. I want to use my planner more and just generally remember to get everything done on time or ahead of time. I want to know when my tests are rather than cramming the weekend before. I don't want to be stressed or a hot mess and staying organized will help me avoid that.

Let me know in the comments what your new semester goals are! We should definitely motivate each other to be our best selves this semester :)

My Week on Instagram #13

It's Monday, so that means another My Week on Instagram post! I am back in Reno, so this is probably the last week of beautiful tropical photos for the next four months (except the rare #tbt or "dreaming of" picture). Keep reading to see all the photos from this week and the BTS! Also, my username is @miss_sienna if you'd like to give me a follow!

Monday 1/11/16

I was at the hotel on Sunday (1/10) and that's where this picture was taken! It was a self shot taken on snapchat and then downloaded, which is why the quality is so bad! But seriously, that water was so blue it was ridiculous!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Thursday 1/15/16

There was a little bit of a gap of posting, but it's because I wasn't really doing anything interesting early in the week! This was actually a picture from around a month ago that I've been wanting to post for a while. I got this drink from a place called Salted Lemon (read my review of it here) and it was beet and apple and absolutely delicious!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Saturday 1/16/16
This was my last lunch in Hawaii with my mom! We went to a really good restaurant called Uncles that has the best fish and seafood! I got a sushi bowl and my mom got some clams with garlic bread. The food was so pretty, but the restaurant was pretty empty (probably because it'd kinda pricey). It was definitely the best second-to-last meal in Hawaii :P

Sunday 1/17/16

I had a 7:00am flight back to Reno (with a 6 hour layover in SFO because of a plane delay), but before my first flight took off, I wanted to post a picture! This was taken by my mom when I was on Waikiki beach with my family early in the morning last Sunday (1/10). It was a pretty picture and I wanted to post it!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I really love this series because it allows me to reminisce and remember parts of my life that a picture wouldn't tell me! Let me know in the comments what other types of posts you'd like to see and I thought I'd tell you that it's 50° in Reno, which is so much warmer than I thought it'd be and it's beautiful :)

3 Ways to Beat Jet Lag For College Students

Jet lag sucks! And dealing with it sucks more! But when you have one day to recover from a two hour time difference (losing, not gaining!) before going back to 8 am chemistry classes, you need to deal with it quickly. I'm sure a lot of you have spent winter break in your home state and unless you're one of the lucky few that stay in the same time zone, you're going to have to readjust FAST! Here are 3 ways to do it.

1) Sleep Train
Sleep training sounds like something moms do to their newborns, but this is exactly what you should be doing a week before going back. You need to go to sleep when you would at school even if that seems really late or early for where you are (*exceptions: if you're time traveling more than 3 hours or it's really inconvenient). This is so helpful because you'll essentially get to keep your same sleep schedule when you get back (just with new times). Trust me, it makes sense once you try it out.

2) Fly Smarter
Never take a red-eye unless you can sleep on a plane. You should try to sleep when it's dark and stay awake when it's light when you're traveling back to college to help you re-adjust your circadian rhythms. The best way to do this is to fly during the day, force yourself to stay up to the time you'd usually go to sleep at night, then get a full night's rest and rise in the morning. This is almost impossible to do if you're taking naps on flights or staying awake all through a red-eye.

3) Give Yourself Time
Time is your best friend when it comes to beating jetlag. I know that some of us are at the mercy of when dorms re-open, but if you have a choice of date to fly back, try to give yourself a couple days. At least one day if you have a choice, although more is better. This will help you re-adapt fully making it super easy to get back to your usual schedule once the first day of class comes. Alternatively, you could try to give yourself later classes (as most of us try to do anyway), so you don't need to rise early on that first day back.

Do you have any tricks to beating jetlag? Share down below!

7 Ways To Become a Morning Person

Does Monday role around and are you still hitting the snooze button endlessly? Do you tell yourself you'll get a morning workout in, only to forget about it once morning comes? Are you constantly running out of hours in the day?

If you are, you might consider trying to become a morning person. Science has proven that the most successful people are early risers, so here are seven ways to become a morning person.

1) Go to sleep earlier
The fastest and easiest way to fail at being a morning person is to continue to go to sleep at the same time you would when you'd sleep in. Adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep and it's important to continue to get them as you shift your wake up time back.

2) Make it a routine
Mondays will continue to be hard and miserable if you stay up late on the weekends and throw your early rising out the door. Nobody's suggesting you go to bed at 8pm on a Friday or Saturday night, but if you don't stick to your routine on weekends, that's almost 1/4 of the month wasted (even more if you consider the Mondays spent readjusting).

3) Technology off
Turn off technology for a bit before going to sleep because the bright lights make it harder for you to fall asleep. Plus you really shouldn't be watching the Real Housewives of who-knows-where in bed.

4) Exercise early
Getting in some early morning exercise can help kick start your day. Try to get up and get moving! Even just five minutes of yoga or jumping jacks can help awaken and invigorate you.

5) Stop the snooze
Snoozing an alarm almost never makes you feel better. Once your alarm goes off lie in bed. Don't let yourself fall asleep, but stay in that peaceful, meditative state for a couple minutes. Think only positive things. Think of what you need to do for the day, then get up and get at it! Snoozing an alarm is pointless because you never get back to that rem sleep and can only make you feel more tired.

6) Eat right
Diet plays such a huge role in feeling awake. Try cutting down on the processed foods, fats, and animal products and see if you begin to feel better. Sometimes you're not physically tired and don't need sleep, but only feel lethargic because of what you're eating badly.

7) Stay motivated
All of this is pointless if you're not motivated to keep it up. Being a morning person is a choice and a lesson in self discipline. Remember how productive you are and how good you feel waking up early!

Update Your Workout Wardrobe for 2016

Hi guys!
I did a post all about health and fitness bloggers you should be following in 2016 the other day, but today I thought it'd be fun to do a little fashion post along the same line! I know that health and fitness is one of the biggest resolutions for a lot of people, so here are some fashion pieces that might inspire you to get out more this year!

I really like athleisure. I wear sports bras more than I wear normal bras and I like my workout outfits to look cute. A big trend lately has been cut out tights, which I really like. I also like zippers on bras and pants and different patterns and textures!

Let me know what your new year's resolutions are in the comments below! Also, make sure that you enter my Sephora gift card giveaway!

My Week on Instagram #12

Hi guys!
This is my third month of "My Week on Instagram" posts, which is absolutely insane! This week was a lot of brunching, a lot of sun, and a lot of fun! Here's the BTS :)

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Monday 1/4:
This is just a typical sky picture. It's not even a sunset picture, so it's pretty boring. I wanted to post it, though, because the sky here is so different from the one in Reno. It's so much bluer, clearer, brighter and I wanted that to live on my feed forever!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Tuesday 1/5:
This was brunch 1/3 this week! We went to a little restaurant and I ordered these incredible papaya ginger pancakes! I wanted to take a picture because they were so pretty, so delicious, and brunch was a lot of fun!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Wednesday 1/6:I took this picture in the parking lot of my mom's workplace because I got there early and I was waiting for her to finish. These sunglasses are the coolest things, though! I got them on clearance from Nordstrom for like $5, which was such a steal, and I've been wearing them non-stop ever since!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Thursday 1/7:
It's throwback Thursday time! I was going through some of the things my mom kept from preschool and I found this picture! It was from my first time to Disneyland when I was 4 years old!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Friday 1/8:
This is brunch 3/3 (I didn't take a picture of the second one)! I had pancakes again, although these ones were taro banana ones! Brunch was so fun because it was originally supposed to be three of us, but coincidentally we ran in to three people we went to high school with, so we all ate together! The picture is not my best work, though. I was quickly snapping some pictures and it's a little bit out of focus and fuzzy and not the most appealing.

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Saturday 1/9:
My parents surprised me and my sister with a little mini staycation for the weekend. This was the view from the hotel room, which was absolutely gorgeous and is everything that waikiki is!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Sunday 1/10
I love this picture! I obviously didn't know where the camera was, but it's so fun and I love how my sunglasses really pop! By the way, while this was being taken I was reading one of my friend's AP Bio notes because I'm trying to re-teach myself some biology before I get back to college!

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Make sure that you're following me on instagram @miss_sienna because that's one of the ways you can enter my $25 sephora gift card giveaway! You can also see the rest of the "My Week on Instagram" posts here!

Health Bloggers to Inspire You in 2016

Hi guys!
I've been pretty inspired by some health and wellness bloggers these past few months and I thought I'd share them with you today! Just a little heads up, a lot of these bloggers are vegan and while that's great I know a lot of you might not be ready for that. All of these have beautiful plant based recipes and food pictures and are still wonderful role models!

Mr & Mrs Vegan: Instagram, Youtube, Tumblr
These are two of the cutest people on the planet! They're based out of Los Angeles and are experts in clean eating and healthy living. They have tons of great recipe videos on their youtube channel and are really good about answering any and all health related questions on their tumblr!

LoniJane: Instagram, Tumblr
Her feed is all about sun, sand, and food! I love browsing looking for some food-inspo! She has a young toddler and is pregnant with her second child and has gone through both pregnancies vegan and radiant!

Freelee the Banana Girl: Instagram, Youtube, Ebook
Freelee the Banana Girl is one of the most polarizing figures in the diet world. She may be a bit harsh, extreme, and crazy, but what she preaches obviously works! She looks better in her thirties than many people do in their twenties! Her new ebook is out and is full of information and a thirty day "cleanse" to help you jump start 2016!

Emily Hunt: Instagram, Tumblr
I love Emily for her tumblr! She answers a lot of asks with really smart, informative responses. She also has a no bullshit policy and tells it like it is. Expect to see a lot of beautiful food in her feed and sassy responses to stupid questions on her tumblr!

Bonny Rebecca: Instagram, Tumblr, Youtube
I love bonny for her vlogs! She recently completed a 30 day vlogging series and shows just how easy it is to eat clean when you're extremely busy! She also has a recipe ebook out with lots of healthy, clean eats and her instagram is full of beautiful food pics!
I know that getting healthier is a bit new years goal for a lot of you and I hope that these accounts provide a bit of inspiration! Please note that I didn't include Tone it Up or Blogilates because I don't necessarily agree with their diet advice and will never agree with anyone who promotes a low carb diet (if you want me to explain more, I'll do a video)! Let me know if there's anyone I'm missing out on in the comments!

My Week on Instagram #11

Hi guys!
It's the first "My Week on Instagram" of 2016! I'm definitely going to keep doing this series throughout the year, and hopefully I'll get one up for each week of 2016! Here's the BTS of my week on Instagram!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Monday 12/28

Monday was my first day driving alone! I went out to brunch with a couple of my friends and then went to the mall to meet some other people! The mall had a brand new milk tea place that I had to try (I'm kinda obsessed with boba)! The cups were huge and what you didn't see was me trying to juggle it (they wouldn't fit in the cup holder) while driving to pick my mom up by myself.

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Wednesday 12/30
I went back to Salted Lemon on Wednesday with some of my friends! It's this amazing health food store right down the street from me with the most insta-worthy acai bowls!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Thursday 12/31

This was actually a picture from Monday when I was at the mall with my friend! She was trying some stuff on in a dressing room, but I didn't find anything that I liked, so I spent some time taking pictures in the mirror instead! Also, I'm seriously obsessed with these shoes!

A photo posted by SIENNA ☄ (@miss_sienna) on

Friday 1/1

This was an old selfie of me and my sister! I wanted to post it because we look sooo happy in it and I didn't have any good pictures from January 1st. In reality, I spent the whole day in pajamas eating.

Saturday 1/2

So I woke up and couldn't walk on my foot! I quickly realized that it was swollen and couldn't put weight on it. I must have sprained it although I don't realize how! This photo is 100% staged, though, because in reality I was lying in the dark watching Gossip Girl or my foot was in a bucket full of ice.

Sunday 1/3The first picture was taken in my back yard! I loved the way that the light looked through the trees during golden hour! The second picture was taken in my kitchen! My parents got a whole bunch of macarons because the old (but still delicious) ones are discounted at the farmers market on Sundays! I already ate a blue one and have plans to eat the green one (I think it's green tea flavored) tomorrow!
