Top 5 Tips To Save Money Christmas Shopping!

Hi guys!
I like to consider myself a "sport shopper." I always search for the best deal, I do my research well in advance, and I try to save money whenever possible. I thought that today I'd share five of my top tips to save money Christmas shopping because I know a lot of people are searching for presents, but are on a budget!

1) Cash Back Programs
The two that I use and will be talking about are Ebates and Macy's Thanks for Sharing although I'm sure that there are others! The perks of programs like these are that you get money back! Ebates pays you cash and Macy's puts the amount on a Macy's gift card, which is pretty great! Here's a little more info on the two programs.

  • Ebates: Ebates is great because it lets you shop on lots of different websites and will give you a percentage back. This could range anywhere from 1% all the way up to 10% or even higher! They pay through Paypal quarterly as long as you reach a $5 minimum. I have an afffiliate link, so you can get a $10 sign up bonus using this link!
  • Macy's: This is only applicable if you have a Macy's credit card! You can pay $25 to join Thanks For Sharing and you'll earn 10% back on all your purchases with your Macy's credit card at Macy's or through December! If you do the math, you'll need to spend over $250 to make this a worthwhile investment. My family does it every year because we do a lot of holiday shopping at Macy's, but that's a decision you'll need to make for yourself.
2) Coupons!
Online: I always like to research coupons when I'm online shopping because sometimes there are codes that aren't well publicized and you can end up saving a lot of money! RetailMeNot is what I personally use!
In Store: Also, make sure that you bring coupons with you when you go shopping! For example, Bath and Body Works always has coupons, so go through your email and make sure you print out a couple before going to the mall just in case you end up buying something from there!

3) Make A Spreadsheet
This is super helpful because it keeps you aware of who you still need to shop for and who you already got gifts for so you don't overlook anyone or get anyone two presents! One my spreadsheet my columns are "person," "item," "cost," "notes," and I have a separate column that's a sum of all the costs. Just planning and being aware of your spending will help keep your costs down because you know the big picture of your spending.

4) Cash is King
If you are one of those people that goes crazy with the spending when you use a credit card, try paying in only cash! This sounds crazy, but the logic behind it is that physically seeing what you're spending will make you more aware of it and will keep you from spending money you don't want to.

5) Beware of "Extra Costs"
The biggest "extra cost" that kills me every single time is shipping. Obviously I live in Hawaii, so shipping there would be more expensive than if you live in the continental United States. Be aware of these extra costs and try to work around them. One way is to search for coupon codes for free shipping, order from one place so you're only paying one shipping cost, or try to meet minimum for free shipping.

I hope that these tips help you save money this year! If you have any other tips, let me know in the comments! Also, I'm definitely doing Vlogmas this year, so make sure you're subscribed to my youtube channel!
