Birchbox April 2014

Hi guys!
So this birchbox is hella late! Seriously it is the very end of April and I'm getting it, but it's because they shipped it late (btw their customer service is top notch). I am really excited about this box, so here we go!

My birchbox came with these papers in them. The first one on the right is about their new loyalty program where if you get 500 birchbox points in a year, you'll get perks in the Birchbox Aces program! The center one and the one on the left were a part of the 52 bright ideas for a rainy day set and I got #16!

Next I got a KIND Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt Healthy Grain Bar. I am really excited about this because I am doing some more exercising and I'm a part of a program (check my other blog for a post about it) and healthy snacks are really great!

I got the Davines Oi All in One Milk. It's supposed to be a shine, detangling, and heat protection spray so I am really excited to try it out because my hair has been a tad bit unmanageable lately!

First off, I gotta say that I love the new Color Club packaging and logo! I don't know if its for this particular one or for the whole brand, but it's so pretty looking! I got the shade Aquamarine Azulino from Gala's Gems Collection (which is a set of 4).

I got one of the shades of the How 'Bout Them Apples Palette by theBalm. I'm not a huge fan of creamy cheek products, but I will definitely review this for you guys! I got the shade Pie and it looks really pretty and something that might look great on the lips!

Lastly, I got a perfume sample from Atelier Cologne. I know some people hate perfume samples, but I don't mind them and I think that this scent is really citrusy and might be good for summertime! Also, I love their packaging because it comes in a really cute envelope with this postcard!

So overall, I am loving this months birchbox! I am most excited for the cheek and lip tint and the nail polish, but nothing disappointed me in this box! I will review whatever you want me to, so let me know if there are any you'd like to see in the comments!

Mini Clothing Haul!

Hi guys!
So I went on a little shopping spree the other day and I bought a couple things online, one things from a little boutique, and a couple of beauty things. This post will be on the clothing items I got and when my beauty items get in I'll do another one on those!

So let's start with the American Eagle items! They were having a 40% off sale, so I got everything for really cheap and they also had free shipping, so that was amazing! I think that they might still have the sale going on, but maybe not the shipping? I don't really know, but I ordered this the other day and I think the items might still be in stock.

So first off I got a black cardigan. It's really loose and flowy, which I love. It's also a really flattering hem because it hits slightly under the waist, which I love! I've actually worn this a couple times since I've gotten it and I love it!

Next, I got a pair of jeans. These are just black skinnies. I don't really particularly like American Eagle jeans because I think that Hollister ones just fit me better, so I kind of bought this in a spur of the moment. I'm not really sure how I feel about this. The length is good and it fits okay, but the legs aren't as "skinny" as I thought they would be and they seem more straight legged if anything. Also, on the back, the pockets are kind of huge, so I don't know how much I'll actually wear these... I'll keep you guys updated!

The last thing that I got from American Eagle was a tank top. I love this top so much, but when I first got it I thought it looked a little funny! So it is black and loose fitting. The back is a solid black fabric, while the front has a solid piece with open weaved panels. It's kind of hard to see in the photo, so I promise to do an outfit of the day so you guys can see how it actually looks on me!

The last thing that I got was from a little boutique in one of my local malls. It is a pair of jeggings with a really cool design on it! It is white and navy and has really cool squiggly and stripy designs on it! They fit me really well and the fabric is really comfortable so it's almost like a second skin! I don't know if or where you can get this online, so I'm super sorry if you want to get this!

So that's my mini clothing haul! Let me know what you think of the pieces I got in the comments and don't forget to follow this blog! Also, just an FYI for all of you who don't know, I switched my posting schedule to Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday!

Easy Tie-Dye Tank!

Hi guys!
So this is a really spur of the moment post and I didn't think this through, so I don't have any pictures for the steps, but I hope it's easy enough for you all to understand! Well let's start with the backstory on this DIY! My mom was cleaning the house and we had a cleaner with bleach in a spray bottle. She picked up the spray bottle from the top and it wasn't screwed on tightly enough and the bleach stained her shirt and spilled everywhere! She was about ready to throw the shirt away, but I came up with the fun idea of bleach tye dying it!

What You'll Need:
A shirt or a tank
Bleach! (I didn't have pure bleach, so I used the same bleach cleanser that stained her shirt)
Rubber Bands
Gloves (Optional, but highly recommended)

Step 1: Fold and Tie Your shirt!
You can find instructions on how to tie your shirts if you google it, but I did a simple circular pattern by pinching the shirt and spinning. Make sure to use rubberbands to secure the design.

Step 2: Spray Bleach!
You can drip the bleach on, spray it, dip it, whatever! What I did was wet my shirt completely with water first, then drip some bleach on and spray it. If you're trying to blend in a stain (like me) then apply more bleach than you think you need just to make sure it camouflages the stain, but if you're just doing it for fun, that do whatever you want! Also, try to use gloves if you're dealing with really strong bleach because you don't want to injure yourself or expose your hands to harsh chemicals!

Step 3: Remove Rubber Bands and Let Sit
I cut the rubber bands off and hung up the tank over a sink just so I could see it as the bleach worked. Keep checking back on the shirt because you'll see when the fabric starts to lighten.

Step 4: Wash and Dry!
Once your shirt has reached desired lightness, rinse out the bleach as best you can with a hose or a sink. Then throw your shirt into a washing machine with soap (I ran the load with only the tank because I didn't want to accidentally bleach other things) and dry!

This is really easy to do and although my shirt isn't really that great and you can still see that original stain pretty well, I think that it looks really cool and makes stained shirts wearable again! Let me know if you try it out in the comments!

Posting Schedule Update!

Hey guys!
So I realized this week that I need to make a posting schedule switch because pretty much every post this week has gone up on a different day than it should have. Recently my afterschool activities on Monday's and Wednesday's have gotten a lot more hectic, so I don't always have time to write and post on those days. I think that it would be a lot better if I switched to a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule for the time being. I'm not 100% sure if this will be better, but I'm going to try stick with it for at least the next month! When summer starts, I'll try post more frequently! Thanks you guys for being so understanding :D

Top 5 Under $10 (#BloggersDoItBetter)

Hi lovelies!
Today's post is really exciting because it's the second post in the Bloggers Do It Better Challenge! The topic of this post was "Bloggers Do Bargains Better", so I thought I'd do something different and show you guys my top 5 beauty products under $10! Just a heads up: I know that prices vary a lot depending on where you are and what drugstore you go to, but when I purchased these products, they were all under $10! Also, these products are in no particular order and to make it easy for you guys, click on the product name if you'd like a link to purchase and I'll link the reviews I've done of these products in their description!

1) EOS Lip Balms!
I am a huge fan of EOS Lip Balms and have been for a very long time! I've tried most of the flavors (strawberry, mint, honeydew, and summerfruit), but my hands down favorite is the mint one! I reviewed these a while back, so if you want to read more about these products click here!

2) Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Trios
I love the wet n wild formula (as most beauty gurus do) and I think that their trios are really good! I have Don't Steal My Thunder (left) and Sweet As Candy (right) and I love the pigmentation of both of them! I have to say I use the right one more, but they're both so beautiful! I don't have reviews on these particular ones, but click here for a review on a 6 pan palette (also really good!)

3) Jordana Semi Permanent Liquid Eyeliner
LOVE THESE! They are so cheap and pigmented and wonderful! I have Endless Black (left) Timeless Green (middle) and Forever Chocolate (right) and all of them are really nice! They have a brush applicator and the black and brown are matte, but the green one has shimmer! I haven't reviewed these, but they are fantastic!

4) Maybelline Vivids
Soooooo good! It's not hard to find bold lipsticks at the drugstore, but it is hard to find a great formula! I love the vivids because they have a wide variety of shades (coral? pink? orange? red? yup!) and they are so smooth going on! I have strike a rose (right) and shocking coral (left). Just a note, they look really similar in this picture, but in reality shocking coral is lighter and more orange! I reviewed both of these, so click here for my strike a rose rose review and here for my shocking coral review!

5) Color Club Nail Polish
All of the color club nail polishes I have are fabulous! Actually, thinking back on it, I've only had one I didn't like! But my hands down favorite shade is Editorial. It's a really gorgeous green and gold duochrome (although it looks gold in the picture). It's great for any season and is work appropriate, but still fun! Click here for a review-ish post!

So those were my top 5 under $10! Let me know what yours are in the comments below and subscribe here so you can see future #BloggersDoItBetter posts first!

Dress Up Your Basics (#2014BloggerChallenge)

Hi guys!
So this is one of my posts for the 2014 Blogger Challenge. This is the 8th post in the series, so if you want to see the previous 7, click the tab at the top of this page! This post was supposed to be an outfit of the day, so I thought that I'd do one showing you all how I like to dress up my basic pieces!

Outfit 1: Girl it Up!
So for this outfit I wanted to go girly with my outfit! My basics are a white cold shoulder top (but any white top would do) and a pair of skinny jeans. To girl up this look I used jewelry. I wore a watch pendant necklace because its delicate and girly looking and helped to add something different to my outfit! I think that pendant necklaces are great for girling up some basics and are really easy to wear!

Outfit 2: Edge it Up!
So I have been loving going a little grunge or edgy with my outfits lately, I think that it can look really chic and cool and doesn't look too over the top if done sparingly. In this outfit I took my basics (a nude v neck tee and a pair of skinny jeans) and used jewelry and a jacket to edge it up. My jacket is from hollister and it has 3/4 length sleeves and is a couple sizes too big (it's a large and I normally wear smalls) but it works really well because it leaves it looking casual and a little grungy. My necklace is from jewelmint and the metal plus rhinestone combo makes the jewelry girly and edgy at the same time!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and please let me know in the comments how you like to dress up your basic wardrobe pieces!

Spring Nail Inspo!

Hi guys!
So my last couple posts have been on my spring hair and makeup inspiration so this one will be on my nail inspiration! I'm really excited to show you my favorite styles so let's get started!

I've been loving using colors and this one seems simple enough to do! I love the geometric print of this and I love how you can pick and choose different colors! I might choose mint, sky blue, baby pink, and lavender for a more spring appropriate one!

This one is just so effortless and chic! I love how you can choose any color you'd like and still do this look and I love how you only really have to get one nail perfect! The sparkles just make this fun and flirty :D

This one combines the geometric prints from the first picture with the sparkles from the second! This one looks really cool and I love how they switched up each finger so they weren't all uniform.

So that was my spring nail inspiration! Let me know what your favorite picture was and don't forget to follow me on bloglovin!

Spring Hair Inspo!

Hey guys!
So this week is all about inspiration! My last post was on my spring makeup inspiration and this one will be all about hair! So let's get started :D

My hair is too short to do this now, but I love it! I think that the tousled braid look is really beachy and gorgeous and has just the right balance between trying and being effortless. I especially love this look on girls with blonde hair or highlights because it has dimension that black and deep brunettes don't have.

This is a look that I can still do, but it might take a lot of practice! I think that this looks really boho chic and it reminds me of something that someone would wear to coachella! By the way, super jealous of all the people instagramming and blogging from coachella this year!

I love the hair color on this picture! The red and plum shades look really cool and I love how they combined a burgundy undertone with copper and purple highlights so you have a mix of cool and warm tones in the hair. It seems a little more fall and winter than spring, but I love reds and this is no exception!

So come back on wednesday for my spring nail inspiration and don't forget to let me know which picture is your favorite in the comments below!

Spring Makeup Inspo!

Hey guys!
So spring is in full bloom and I wanted to do a few makeup inspiration posts for you guys! Today's post is on makeup, but the next two posts will be nail and hair inspo! Let's get started.

I love the bright pop of blue! I know the girl in the picture has blue eyes and it looks fab, but I think that it would really make hazel eyes or brown eyes pop! I think it would also look really cool with green instead of blue and gray instead of brown!

I love how metallic this look is! It is just so dramatic and pretty and I love how the metallic shadow circles the eye and how the upper lid matches the lower lashline. This looks like such a great going out look!

Love the glitter on this! I think that the way the lower lashline and upper lashline is lined is really unique because when the eye is closed, it looks like one continuous line! I really want to try this out soon.

So all of these pictures were taken from pintrest and I love them all! Let me know what you think of these looks in the comments below and come back tomorrow for the hair post!

Inka Green Lagoon Eyeliner Review!

Hi guys!
In last month's birchbox, I got an Inka eyeliner in 10 Green Lagoon. I've been trying it out a little bit and I feel like I am ready to review it! So let's get started!

So with the eyeliner, you get the eyeliner, a cover, and a sharpener! I love how it includes a sharpener because it is super convenient! Well Inka is really cool because it is certified organic. Organic cosmetics isn't something super important to me, but I know that it is for a lot of you guys, so I think that's really cool! The color I got is Green Lagoon. It is a light spring green color with lots of gold shimmer in it. The color isn't really dark enough to make your lashes look thicker, but it is really good for brightening! This shade does have shimmer, though, so I wouldn't recommend using it on your waterline because it might irritate your eyes.

It is a light color, but it is also sheer so it is better for a wash of color rather than a pop of color. The liner is really creamy and lasts all day on me, so that is really great! And because it's creamy, you can build it up really easily too so you can get a more opaque color if you want.

Overall, I would recommend the Inka eyeliners because I think the formula is fabulous, but I wouldn't recommend this shade because I don't think it's really useful. I mean it's too light to give the illusion of thick lashes, its shimmery so you can't use it on your waterline, and it is just a light color, so it doesn't look bold! If you have tried this eyeliner let me know your thoughts on it in the comments and don't forget to follow me on bloglovin!

Love Yourself The Way You Are!

Hi guys!
So I haven't done a "inner beauty" or confidence type post in a while, which is really sad because I think that it something really important for beauty and fashion bloggers to do. We live in a really "beauty" obsessed world today, and I think that some websites hurt people's self image and confidence because they only show "perfect" faces with a billion different products on and full coverage foundation and all that. I hope that you guys know that my blog isn't about that at all! I have done a lot of "me without makeup posts" because I feel like it's really important to be real and honest and show myself and my flaws because online it's really easy to "hide" imperfections by not posting them!

Something that I truly believe in is self acceptance. For me, this means loving yourself, caring for yourself, and doing your best to maintain your health. Although self acceptance is huge, I know that there is always something that you are going to want to change. That is okay! Humans strive for "perfection", and it is perfectly fine to want to change something about yourself. I think that some changes are really good to make such as eating healthier, working out more, or losing weight if you have a few extra pounds, but cosmetic changes are a little trickier. I don't mind cosmetic surgeries I just think that people need to think about why they're doing it. Is it to gain approval from someone? Because that is not a good reason. Is it because it'll honestly make you happy? I think that's a better reason.

It's really easy to look online or on tv and feel like crap because you don't look like that. I get it, I've been there and I think that it's something that all women deal with at one time or another. But if you start to love yourself, you will feel a billion times better, you'll look better, you'll become more confident and confidence = beauty!

So this was such a rambly post, but it was something I really wanted to do today! Let me know in the comments how you practice self love and let me know if you want more posts like this on specific things (like confidence).

4 Easy Ways to Add Color to Your Makeup! (Bloggers Do It Better #1)

Hi guys!
So this is my first post in the Bloggers Do It Better Challenge! I am so insanely excited for this challenge because I love the girls and the topics sound like they're going to be a lot of fun! This first topic was Bloggers Do Spring Better, which I loved because it was really open ended! I thought it would be fun to show my favorite products to easily add color to your routine because I know that spring and summer are bright and colorful! Here we go!

1) Use a Peach or Coral Blush
I love peaches and corals on my cheeks during the spring and summer! I think that they are super beachy looking and look a lot more natural than some heavier shades like plums or apricots! If you have fair skin, I would try going towards a peach just because they tend to be lighter and if you have really deep skin, try using a coral! My favorites are Benefit Coralista and MAC Immortal Flower.

2) Use a Navy Liner
You can really use any color eyeliner, but I love using navy because it is dark enough to give definition to your lashline, but is still really fun! Also, if you have brown eyes, navy is going to make them look really great! My favorites are MAC Waveline and Mally Sailor. Navy is also great if you are new to incorporating color because it can be really subtle!

3) Be a Bronze Goddess with Bronzer!
I love whipping out the bronzer during this time of the year because it gives your skin a really pretty glow! Even if you have naturally tan skin, I think that a nice bronzer can really perk up your skin and make it look sunkissed! I like ones with a tad bit of shimmer so you get a glow, but if you have oily skin, try to find a matte one so the shimmer doesn't exacerbate the shininess! My favorites are Jouer Mattifying Bronzer and Stila One Step Bronze.

4) Go All Out with Funky Lips!
I didn't really know what to call this because it's not necessarily "neon" or "bright", as much as funky and different! I love bright bold lip colors (especially the Maybelline Vivids), but I think that "funky" can also apply to nudes! One of my favorite nude colors is MAC To Catch A Sailor (center), which is a lot more brown and frosty than most lipsticks, but looks great on! The other lipsticks pictured are Maybelline Vivid Rose (right) and Shocking Coral (left).
So I hope that you enjoyed my first bloggers do it better post! Let me know what your favorite ways to add color into your makeup are! I also love doing bright nails, but I don't have any specific shades so I didn't include it in this post! That can be a whole separate post by itself!

Jouer Mattifying Powder Bronzer Review

Hi guys!
So I bought the Jouer Mattifying Powder Bronzer in Sunswept from Birchbox! I thought that I'd review it for you today because I have been loving it! So let's get started!

So I love the packaging! It is so slim and streamlined, which I love! It has a huge mirror on the top and it has notches on the sides so you can build a palette with your other jouer products! The shade I got is Sunswept. It is a really warm bronzer meaning that it tends to pull a little orange. I love warm bronzers on my skintone because I have yellow undertones so I think warm bronzer look really good, but if you have pink undertones or really light skin, don't use this or test before buying because it might look muddy on you! This shade has a little bit of shimmer, but it isn't like a discoball. It really just makes you look natural and gives the skin a satin finish!

I built up the swatch quite a bit, so it isn't this noticeable on the skin. See how the shimmer gives it a really satin finish? The formula of this bronzer is really nice because it isn't too powdery and has just a really nice smooth feel to it. It is also a little sheer, which makes it perfect for a light dusting all around the face, although you can build it up and contour with it. I just love using this bronzer because it is so natural looking on my skin and gives me a nice contour without being obvious!

I totally recommend this if you have a similar skintone to mine, but if you are lighter than me or have really pink undertones, test it before buying because warm bronzers can look muddy on your skintones! Overall, this is probably one of my favorite bronzers and I will definitely recommend this to you guys! Let me know in the comments if you've tried this and what you think of it!

I Cut My Hair!!!

Hi guys!
So I have wanted to go shorter with my hair for a while now, but because I was cheerleading year round, I couldn't (because it needed to be long enough for buns and ponytails). Last week sunday I decided to bite the bullet and just chop it! If you follow me on instagram or on twitter, you've already seen this, but I know the majority of you guys haven't seen it yet so here it is!

I went for medium length layers with the longest layers around 2 inches under my collar bone and the shortest layers right beneath my chin. My hair is naturally wavy, but it is straightened in this photo, so I'll do another post when I have my hair styled like usual. It's actually really funny, though, because I was browsing some of my favorite blogs and Rebecca from More Rebe literally just cut her hair the same as I did! I swear that short hair is going to be a thing now!

I am still trying to experiment with how often to wash and how to part my hair and style it, so I promise I'll do some posts on that when I find what I like! Let me know what you think of my haircut in the comments and don't forget to follow me on bloglovin!

A Day In My Life: Spring Break Edition!

Hi guys!
So today's post is topic 7 of the 2014 Blogger Challenge! You can see my 6 previous posts by clicking the last tab at the top of the page! Today we are supposed to incorporate lots of pictures into our post, so I thought that it would be fun to do a "day in my life" type post! These pictures were all from one day during my spring break when I was staying at the Waikiki Hilton for a staycation! Here we go!

So in the morning I got ready, finished packing my bag and left for the hotel. I don't really have any pictures of this part, but I did have a super yummy starbucks drink! It's the passion iced tea (sweetened)! It's so refreshing and delicious.

We got an early check in, which was great because it meant we could get to the pool earlier! If you ever stay at the Waikiki Hilton, I totally recommend trying to stay in the Kalia tower because it has it's own pool and jacuzzi, which is super convenient!

This was the view from my room! So gorgeous, right? I loved how you can see the ocean and although there is a lot of buildings in the way, its still so beautiful!

I went down and lounged by the pool and jacuzzi. The pool (in the next picture) is really huge and pretty, but is freezing! So I spent most of my time in the jacuzzi (this picture) and lying around!

I went to lunch with my family at Outback Steakhouse, which was so good! I don't have any pictures from that, but I got a Malibu Chicken Sandwich or something like that and it was super yummy!

I spent some time in the pool before returning back to the room! This is a picture I took when I was down there that I thought was super pretty! The weather was really nice and the sun was starting to set and everything was really glowy and pretty!

I went to the Cheesecake Factory with the family for dinner! I got the fish tacos, which were so good! It was so, so, so yummy and I especially loved the cilantro rice it was served with!

After dinner, I watched the Heat on tv (seriously a really funny movie!) and went to sleep!

So I really loved doing this post and I am thinking about doing more of them on this blog or my other blog because they are really fun! I think I might do them on my other blog because these posts are more personal, so go subscribe to that blog here! Also, let me know how you spent your spring break (if you're still in school) in the comments below!
