Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder

Hi guys!
So I'm doing one of those "inner beauty" type posts today, which I don't do enough of on this blog! But that all changes now! I have no freaking clue what I'm writing about because it is 10:00 at night and I'm wearing a clay mask and listening to spotify, but this is important so I'm going to do it!

Well first, I'm sure all of you that follow my other blog know all about my obsession with The Twilight Zone. Yes, I'm talking about that really old black and white show. No, I'm not talking about the ride at disneyland. Well there is an episode called Eye of the Beholder that is fan-freaking-tastic! It is so insightful and it really makes you rethink what it means to be "beautiful" I won't talk about it more because it might ruin the twist, but you should totally check it out (Hulu has it for free!). But it makes you think, what is beauty?

Beauty isn't tangible. It isn't something that you can obtain and hold, inject, apply, remove, or squeeze. Is it a feeling? Is it synonymous to confidence? When you feel so good about yourself that you can't help but smile, is that what beauty is? Or is it when you feel like crap, but have other people complimenting you like you are a princess. Is beauty something that we must find for ourselves, within ourselves, or is it something that others define. Can we say that we are beautiful or is that something that others have to designate for us. When someone says that they are beautiful, it sounds pretentious. It sounds like they are overly confident and kind of a bitch, but at the same time, when someone else says that we're beautiful, we beam with joy, but hide it because we're expected to be modest. What kind of society is this, where we can't choose to call ourselves beautiful, but have others decide whether we're worthy for that title?

I think that beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder. I choose to believe that I am a beautiful person. Sure, this sounds pretentious, conceited, and bitchy, but at the end of the day, what makes me happy is knowing that I am the best, most beautiful and confident person that I can be. So what if others don't think I'm attractive? I do, and that's all that matters in the end! I just want to challenge you guys to think about what beauty is. I choose to believe that each and every one of you reading this post is beautiful, and I hope that you believe you're beautiful as well :)

Well that post got really intense really quickly, but I hope you enjoyed reading this! Let me know what you're thoughts on "beauty" is in the comments below and don't forget to follow this blog!
