I love you, Reno!

Hey guys!
As most of you already know, I'm on vacation! I left on Christmas day and I'm going to be in Reno until 12/31. Today was my fourth day in Reno, and I thought that I'd share some of my favorite pictures that I've taken with you!

And speaking of pictures, I brought my new toy with me! It's my new DSLR, a Nikon D3200. I have a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens, although I've only used the 18-55 one so far! I love this camera so much and you are going to see a huge improvement in picture quality! So here's some of my pictures!

I took this picture from the car window, actually, and I just love it! The mountains in Nevada are so gorgeous, and these snow peaked ones are to die for!

This is another landscape picture, but I took this one as we were driving away from the ski place that we went to! The sun was setting and it was just gorgeous! This picture was taken with my iphone, so the quality isn't super great, but the colors are stunning!

Lastly, here's a little selfie I took! It was after a long day of flying, but you can't really tell at all!

So there are a lot more scenery pictures that I'll probably include in another post, but I can't find the cord to sync my camera with my laptop, so that'll have to wait until a later date! Also, many of these are on my insta (@miss_sienna)
and some of the food pics will be on my other blog!

InstaNatural Argan Oil and Argan Oil Hair Mask Review!

Hi guys!
I've already reviewed a few InstaNatural products for skincare (click here to read the post about the vitamin c toner, hyaluronic serum, and youth express eye gel). InstaNatural also makes some hair items as well, and they sent me two of them to review for you today!

Argan Oil
This product is just a basic, natural, argan oil. I love how this can be used for many purposes. The way that I use it the most is on my hair, but you can also use it around your cuticles as a moisturizer, or on your face and body! When I first got this product, I was really surprised by the size of it! It's a really huge bottle of oil, and it is definitely going to last a long time, as a few drops a day is all you really need! The product itself is good, although it isn't any different from other argan oils on the market. The only downside, for me, was the packaging. This has a pump applicator, which either dispenses too much product, or makes it squirt everywhere! I would have preferred a dropper, but that's okay!

Argan Oil Hair Mask
I have something to confess... Before I got this mask, I had never used a hair mask. I know that people swear by argan oil and Moroccan oil hair masks, but I'd never tried one! This is super luxurious feeling because it's thick and hydrates incredibly well. I only use it on the ends, and I think it could get too heavy feeling if used on your whole head. The only thing that I do not like about this is the scent. I am not quite sure exactly what the scent of this is, but I can tell you for sure that I do not like it. The scent is not my favorite, and it does stay on my ends after I wash it out, but the product itself is so great that I could see myself using this a lot!

So, I hope you enjoyed this review! I definitely like InstaNatural a lot, and I think that all of their products are amazing! Let me know in the comments if you've tried any items from this brand, and don't forget to subscribe to this blog if you like my reviews!

Holiday Outfit + Nails

Hi guys!
I wanted to share a holiday outfit idea with you all today! It might be a little late for all of your Christmas parties, but this outfit would be a killer New Year's Eve look too! I also created a nail look that I wanted to share with you because it's perfect for the holiday season!

The Outfit:

I love sparkly dresses for the holiday season, and this cocktail dress is super cute! I'd pair it with shoes in a similar finish and color as the dress just because I love that cohesive look! The jewelry and accessories are simple because the dress is so intense, and I would finish it with a bright, matte, red lip!

The Nails:
This nail look is really impressive, but super simple to do! Just take any red polish that you'd like! I went for a classic cherry red, but this bronze red would look really cool like this too! For the glitter ombre part, take any glitter polish and paint a thick stripe at the top of your nail, feathering the color down.

Julep has an amazing selection of nail polishes that you can use to recreate this look, because they have a ton of different glitter polishes that you can experiment with! You can see their whole nail polish selection here

So, I'm so sorry that this post is so late, but I hope that you enjoyed it! If you recreate this nail look tweet it to me @a_modern_girl and let me know in the comments how you're doing your nails for Christmas!

Holiday Haul Part 2: Sephora!

Hey everyone!
This is part 2 of my holiday haul! Part 1 was on some fashion items, and if you haven't seen that yet, you can click here!  I got a lot of things from Sephora, and I wanted to do a haul for you! Some of these items are gifts, but some of them are for me too!

So I know in this video, I was hesitant about keeping the smoked palette for myself, but I finally decided! I kept it for myself because it's better for traveling compared to the much larger vice 3, and it's really cute!

I hope you enjoyed this video, and if you love hauls, please give this video a thumbs up! Also, don't forget to subscribe to this channel for more videos!

Christmas Gift Guide 2014: Fashionista

Hey everyone!
This is the fourth gift guide so far, and I think it might be my last! If you haven't seen the other gift guides I've done, you can click here, or you can click the "gift guide" tab in the right side bar! This has been my favorite one to make so far, and is for the fashionistas! As usual, this is completely shopapble, so click to purchase!

I love fashionistas because you can go crazy with the jewelry, shoes, and accessories. You can get unusual things that are out of the ordinary! The safest bet would be the earrings or sunglasses because they are the most neutral and I think that they're the easiest to wear. If you wanted to get something else, boots with sequins or zippers are really great for fashionistas and bags with various colors and decorations are great too!

So that's my gift guide for fashionistas! Let me know what you think of it in the comments! The actual last one will actually be on my other blog, and it'll be a home decor one!

Christmas Gift Guide 2014: Makeup

Hi guys!
It's time for the much awaited makeup gift guide! I kept it together and only included 12, but I feel like it'd work well for makeup enthusiasts and makeup newbies! As usual, it's shopable, so click on the image to purchase it!

Okay, so out of all of these I only own the Vice 3 palette, although I've tried some of the stila lip glazes and a tarte lipsurgance. If you're shopping for someone new to makeup, I think the blush sets, naked palette, or nail polish would be good because they are all staple products that everyone would use. For the makeup junkies, you can go for the brighter, bolder, crazier items that may seem unnecessary. So this would include the lip products, vice 3, eyeliners, and everything else! I like going for limited edition palettes that include all new products when shopping for someone with a lot of makeup so you avoid repeats, but also because limited edition palettes often have the cutest packaging ever!

So those are my makeup picks for Christmas! Let me know yours in the comments, and let me know what other types of gift guides you'd like to see!

InstaNatural Skincare Review

Hey everyone!
InstaNatural was super amazing and sent me three of their skincare products! I received the Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Youth Express Eye Gel, and Vitamin C Facial Toner. They're also sending me a few hair care products, and I'll review those once I receive them!

Hyaluronic Acid Serum
This is a serum that sounded amazing because hyaluronic is supposed to be really great for skin because it's can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. This serum also has green tea extract, vitamin C, vitamin E, and jojoba oil. I've been using this twice a day (morning and night) for around a week and I've been loving this! It leaves my skin smooth and absorbs really well without leaving a residue, oily, or sticky feeling. I only need to use three drops to cover my face and I feel like the bottle could last me a while! I can't vouch for the anti-aging powers of this, but I have acne prone teenage skin, and this works better than anything else for me!
Overall Thoughts: LOVE THIS!

This toner has Vitamin C, Witch Hazel, Aloe and more amazing, natural ingredients. It is supposed to clean and shrink pores and hydrate skin. I don't think that it necessarily cleans or shrinks my pores, but I like this toner. I really like the spray format because it's less wasteful than using a cotton pad, but I'm not a huge fan of the scent (it's very citrusy). Overall, my skin feels good when I'm using this toner and it's probably one of the gentler toners I've used, and if you have sensitive skin, this would be great!
Overall Thoughts: Love the product, not the scent

I used this product for a week, so I could give you my thoughts, but in all honesty it's not really relevant to me (as I'm still quite young), so I might give it to my mom instead. I can't tell you about the anti-aging, eye bag reducing, crows feet eliminating powers of this, but I can tell you about the formula! I love how this soaks in almost instantly and feels very light. It also has hyaluronic acid, so it's extremely moisturizing and it's very gentle. It is also scentless and it won't irritate your eye area at all!
Overall Thoughts: Great formulation, idk about the claims...

So a huge thank you to InstaNatural for sending me these products! I love them all and even though I'm going to gift the eye gel to my mom because it's better suited for her, everything was amazing! If you want to purchase these products, you can click here! Let me know what your favorite skincare products are in the comments, and don't forget to subscribe to this blog!

Christmas Gift Guide 2014: Athletes

Hi guys!
So this is my first gift guide post for a specific person! The other two were on shoes and bags, which you should totally check out as well, but this one is going to be a bit more specific! As usual, these are shopable, so click on the image to purchase it!

I have a few personal favorites on this collage. I love the whole bottom row because that tank top looks really cute and it's workout clothes that doesn't look like workout clothes, which is great for the lunchtime gym junkie! The second would be the pink fitbit flex. I have a flex and I wear it literally every single day and you can choose the band color to fit the person! I have a slate gray one, but I really want to get a teal one and a black one! I don't recommend going for shoes unless you know their size for sure, because they're really personal and can be a bit awkward to purchase because of size and fit. Normal clothes is good, I would just go higher end (like Lulu or Alo or Onzie) or bold with the colors so there's not too much overlap with what they'd already own. Lastly, fitbits are amazing! They came out with a few that have heart rate monitors, which I'm thinking about getting for myself, although I can't justify it quite yet as my Flex still works perfectly!

So those are my ideas for athletes! Just a final note, don't get this for someone that only occasionally works out or for an acquaintance because it can totally be taken in the "you should exercise more" way if it's to someone you don't know really well! My next gift guide will be on makeup, so come back to see that and leave ideas for future gift guide posts in the comments!

What's in My Work Bag? | VLOGMAS

Hi everyone!

My New Bag!

Hey everyone!
I have been eyeing a bag at my work for a while now, and finally bought it because I got 30% off as a part of my employee discount! It's a really cool three compartment black hobo bag!

So this is the front! It has these short handles on it, but it also comes with a longer handle that you can attach to it if you wanted to wear it lower on the body.

This is the back! It has a small zippered pocket that I'm probably gonna keep my phone in when I use it!

So this picture makes the bag look really odd, but when you unbutton it, there's three different compartments. The two outside ones are just really deep compartments (with no pockets within it), and would be really good for organization.

And this is the middle pocket! When you unzip it there's two pockets on one side, and a larger zippered one on the other. It's not as deep as the two other compartments, but would be great to hold more valuable items!

So that's my new bag! I can't wait to use it because I'm absolutely in love with it! I don't really know what the name or brand of the bag is, so I can't link it for you guys :( but I'll keep searching for it! Also, let me know if you'd be interested in a what's in my bag video once I start using it more!

Christmas Gift Guide 2014: Bags

Hey everyone!
So this is going to be the second post in my Christmas Gift Guide series! To see the rest of the posts in this series, you can go to the right hand bar and click "gift guides" under the pages section! This one is going to be on handbags because I know they're a super popular gift because it's fashion, but you don't need to guess sizes like you would with normal clothes! As usual, this is shopable, so click on the bag to purchase it!

So when shopping for bags for someone else, always get a gift receipt! Bags are so personal, and it's better to have someone return it and get something they like than to be stuck with an unused bag for years! I like to go for very basic bags. So totes, satchels, and clutches. I wouldn't go for anything too hobo-esque or very large or very tiny just because those can be pretty hit or miss. I also like to go for neutrals in the browns, taupes, and grays, although depending on the person, you could go for a color! Just choose bags with accents that would match the person, so if your friend is "edgy" go for one with studs, or if someone is "classic" go for one with gold hardware and minimal accessories on it!

I hope that this helps you, and let me know in the comments if you've bought bags for someone and what your tips would be! The next post in the gift guide series will be on shopping for athletic people!

Artistry Makeup Haul

Hey everyone!
I'm super excited to do this haul because one of my friends on Twitter, Nick, sent me a few artistry products to do reviews on and to show you guys! If you want to buy any of these products, definitely do it through his site because he is so great at customer service and is just super nice! (We had some issues with my shipping, but he took care of it all!) I'll be doing a tutorial using these on my channel very soon, but here's my little haul so you can see what I got!

This first product is the Artistry Color Quad in Light. It has three eye colors (upper left and the bottom two) and a cheek color (upper right), although you could use all of them as eyeshadows if you wanted to! This item is actually no longer available, but I'm going to assume that the formula of these eyeshadows are the same as the rest of the line, in which case that's amazing! It's so soft feeling and not powdery at all! It's also super pigmented and I can't wait to use it more!

I also got sent a mascara! I haven't tried this yet, but it seems like a mascara that I would love because the wand has a ton of bristles, and when you pull out the wand, a lot of excess product gets wiped off, which is something that I really like!

So, once again a huge thank you to Nick! Go ahead and check out his store (www.amway.com/NicholasTalaga) because Amway has amazing things and my mom has actually used some of their skincare products in the past and loved it! I'll be doing a tutorial using these products really soon, so stay tuned for that!

One Direction Liquilights Glow Gloss Kit Review

Hey everyone!
Recently, Markwins sent me three makeup by one direction kits to review for you guys, and this is the first one that I'm reviewing! There's also a mascara set and a nail varnish set that I'll review very soon! I did an unboxing on all of these, so if you want to see some swatches and my initial thoughts, click here!

So this kit comes with three different shades that I've taken pictures with on my lips! There is overlap with the lip glosses in the Looks kits, so just be aware of that, but these are super fun shades!

All of them are supposed to glow under blacklight, although I haven't tried that out myself, and all of them are highly shimmery. Like when you remove it, there will still be glitter flecks on your lips. This leaves for a slightly gritty texture, but all of them have a gorgeous finish! Now here's the individual reviews/swatches!

Through the Dark - Electric Glitter Poppy Lipgloss that Glows Red/Orange Under Blacklight

This is such a pretty shade, and it looks really great on! It's good by itself and it's also great for layering over reds and oranges!

Kiss You - Orange Glitter Rush that Glows Yellow Under Blacklight

This looks insane in the tube, but it's really great on the lips because by itself, it gives the lips a nice peachy look! It could also be great layered over a pink, coral, or orange lipstick to make it pop!

Taken - Powerhouse Glitter Pink Lipgloss that Glows Orange Under Blacklight

This is very similar to the first lipgloss and I'm not quite sure that you'd need both. This one is a bit more cool toned and it glows differently under blacklight, but when it's on the lips, they both show up similarly.

So overall I really like this set! The formula is a little funky because of the gritty feeling from the glitter, but it's not sticky, which is great! I would totally recommend getting this because for $16.50, it's a great deal! You could also split it up between three friends and that would be really cool too!

Let me know what your thoughts are on this set if you've tried it already, and you can purchase it by clicking here! Go and subscribe to this blog on bloglovin because lots of gift guides and reviews are coming your way soon!

The Smallest Haul Ever!

Hey everyone!
So I have a haul for you today! I know like pretty much every video for a while has been either an unboxing or a haul, but they have all been pretty time sensitive, which is why they've been going up lately! This is just a tiny haul, and I wanted to post this because one of the items in this video is going to be featured in a few tutorials that are coming soon!

Items Mentioned:
Urban Decay Vice 3
Valerie Joseph Bracelets
RoseGal Kimono
Post on my thoughts on RoseGal

So I hope you enjoyed this video! I have a review on one of the One Direction makeup sets (the lipgloss one) coming tomorrow, and I have around 5 gift guides ready to post! Go ahead and subscribe to my youtube channel and give this video a thumbs up because I think I'm going to do vlogmas this year and you definitely don't want to miss that!

10 Things I'm Thankful for this Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
I really wanted to film a thanksgiving vlog today, but it's around 4 in the afternoon right now and it's just a tad bit late to start... But really, this morning was a ton of craziness and it would have been nuts trying to run around with my camera! So this will be my little thanksgiving post on the 10 things I'm thankful for this year...

1) Family
Family is everything to me and I'm so grateful for the family that I've been given. You all have probably seen my sister in a few of my videos (check out our sister tag here) and she's the cutest little thing in the world. I am especially thankful for my parents this year because they've been super supportive both financially and emotionally through my college application process and that's been awesome.

2) Real-Life Friends
My friends are literally the coolest people in the world and now that we're all seniors in high school everything's been super stressful and it's been amazing to have people going through the same things as me. We also have matching sunglasses, so that's pretty dang cool too :P

3) Online Friends
I have met some of the coolest people in the world through blogging and youtubing and that's pretty amazing! There are literally so many, but a few of them include Julie from The Salt Life Wife, Cali from Cali Jae, Hope from Beauty and Bliss 67, and Natalie from Yours Truly NY

4) My Health
I feel like most of you have heard that I had surgery over the summer, and while it was intense and probably the worse experience of my life, there is so much to be thankful for at the same time. This time last year, I was experiencing a ridiculous amount of discomfort and a bunch of shoulder dislocations and it's amazing not to have to go through that again.

5) Finding Something I'm Truly Passionate About
I was cheerleading for a while before I had my surgery, and although it was a ton of fun and I don't regret doing it at all, it wasn't something that I was truly passionate about. Now that I can't cheerlead anymore, I've been forced to evaluate myself and figure out what I want to spend my time doing, and blogging and youtubing has just been incredible for me.

6) Having My Blog and Channel Grow
I've reached a lot of milestones so far with my channel this past year, and it's been fantastic seeing the numbers grow and talking with a whole bunch of you! I know that lots of people have a passion, but nothing ever comes from it, and I love how I feel like I can make an impact on the world and all of you. Also, if you aren't already following me, you can follow my blog here, and subscribe to my youtube here!

7) Good Food
I'm a huge foodie and thanksgiving is seriously one of my favorite days just because of the food. I've especially loved eating lots of smoothies and acai bowls as well as cinnamon rolls and steak!

8) Finding Some Sense of Independence
I got a job around 2 months ago, and I've been feeling a lot more independent. Granted, I still don't have my drivers license, but I am starting to be more self reliant and I feel like I'm actually growing up and taking responsibility for myself. It's been really cool, especially because a lot of my classmates and friends are still so dependent on their parents for spending money and things like that.

9) Really Cool Art
I've developed a really deep appreciation for art this past year, especially after joining tumblr (you can follow me by clicking here) and ello (click here) and I've loved seeing the passion and love that other people put into their work!

10) Life
There are so many things that we take for granted, but the one that we take for granted the most, is the most important thing in the world: the gift of life. People die everyday, and I'm so thankful to be able to live, love, laugh, and learn, every single day.

So all of these pictures are actually from my instagram page, which you can follow (@miss_sienna) if you'd like! I hope that you all had an amazing thanksgiving, and let me know what you're thankful for in the comments!

Christmas Gift Guide 2014: Jewelry

Hi guys!
So this year I'm going to be doing some gift guides for you all! I think that I'm going to make them in two different formats. One will be (like this post) and on a specific item. For instance, this one is all about jewelry and I think I'll do similar ones with bags and makeup. The second format, which will be coming soon, will be on personas. So what to get the athletic girl, girly girl, bookworm girl... If you have any suggestions for gift guides let me know in the comments because I want to do TONS this year! Also, all of these will be totally shoppable, so click on the picture to be redirected to purchase!

Okay, so when I'm giving jewelry as a gift, I like to go crazy! I go for bold colors, funky patterns, and things that I know the person won't already have in their collection! Like the earrings in the middle on the first row. They are so gorgeous and unique, yet I feel like for the right girl they could be the perfect gift! I also love the fitbit bracelet (first row, third column) because it's luxurious and something someone wouldn't splurge on for themself! I also love going with bold colors so the earrings (second row, first column) and the necklace (third row, first column) are great as a statement. And textures are great too, so that whole last row is really awesome with that!

So I hope you enjoyed this post, and get ready for a ton more gift guides! The next one will be all about bags!
