How to: Use Pencil Liner in a Smokey Eye

Hey everyone!
So I consider it to be the holiday season although many of you might think its a tad bit early considering thanksgiving isn't even here! But I love doing this look in the fall and winter because it is dramatic, but doesn't take a long time to do! Also, you can substitute different colored liners to make this look a little different! So let's get started!

So first off, I am not going to show any "face" makeup in this, so do your foundation, concealer, bronzer and the like on your own! I am going to recommend a soft pink or peach blush, but you can do whatever you'd like! Also, don't forget to fill in your brows!

1) Dot a soft pencil liner all over the lid space
This looks totally crazy, but trust me, this is how you can get the color to blend out the best! Just dot all over the lid, but make sure that you don't dot any in the crease, because thats where the color will fade. Also, try to add more dots towards the lashline and spread them out as you go up!

2) Take a pencil brush and connect the dots!
Take a stiff pencil brush, and slowly start working the color all over the lid "connecting the dots". Try to work the color up to the crease, fading it as you go up! You'll get a little bit of a "monotone" (no gradient) in this step, so if you don't have the fading yet, we'll fix it!

3) Add another line of liner to your upper lashline
Line your upper lashline again and try to make it as perfect as you can! Then take your pencil brush again and smudge it out, trying to smoke it out, but not fade it too much. Then take your pencil brush and use whatever liner is left on it and smudge it on the lower lashline!

4) Powder it up!
I took a shimmery golden shade on a fluffy brush and applied it to the crease to warm up the smokey eye a little bit. Then I took a pressed powder (a translucent one works best) and I gently swept that all over the liner just to set it and prevent it from smudging.

5) Add a couple coats of mascara (or falsies!)
I added 2 coats of Benefit's "They're Real!" mascara to my upper lashline! I think that if you are going to a party, falsies would look really good too!

So that was how I like to use pencil liner to create a smokey eye! Let me know what you think of this look and if you like it in the comments! Also, check back tomorrow for another post!
