OCC Black Dahlia Lip Tar Review

Hi everyone!
I got the OCC all star minis X4 set from Sephora the other day and I wanted to review each individual lip tar! If you want to see the post where I review the set, I'll link it here for you guys! This is the last shade that I'm reviewing and perhaps my favorite!

I love Black Dahlia so much because it is a great fall and winter shade! It looks very scary in the tube. Almost like a black shade, but when you apply it, it turns into a slightly vampy burgundy berry shade. This is a great shade because if you apply it lightly and sheer it out a little, you can get a berry shade, but you can make it more opaque and deeper and get a more true to tube shade if you layer it a little bit. The staying power on this is great and I got 6.5 hours of wear with this shade during a school day! I love the pigmentation with this because although it isn't as heavily pigmented as NSFW or Anime, it works well because you can layer it to build up the pigment and get a deep vampy shade or just do one small layer and get a berry shade!

Overall, I have nothing but great things to say about this shade! I love this one so much and it is great for the fall time when you want to wear some burgundy and berry shades! It is also great because it lasts forever and this tiny tube will last a long time too because it takes literally a drop to cover my whole mouth! I totally recommend this shade! Let me know in the comments if you own black dahlia and your thoughts on it!

Confessions of a Beauty Guru TAG!

Hey everyone!
So this is a tag that went around a couple years ago before I was into blogging, but I thought that I'd do it anyways just for the fun of it! Also, I did reword a few questions to make them less youtube and more blog focused!

1) How many hours a week do you spend writing and editing posts?

It really depends on the week! Most weeks I take pictures of my makeup looks and outfits during the week and write the posts accompanying them on the weekends, but if I don't take pictures during the week, it'll take a few hours longer!

2) Are you a spender or a saver?

I am more of a saver, but I do like to splurge a little bit every couple of months!

3) When is it easiest for you to post?

On weekends during the day or during the weekday at night! It's the most quiet times in my house!

4) What makes blogging comfortable for you?

I just write like I talk, which isn't proper english or whatever, but the first couple posts were written awkwardly, but I just got used to it~

5) Worst makeup habit?

I always want to do a dramatic eye, every day! I love eye makeup and it is just so fun for me to do!

6) What's one quote that you wish the world could live by?

Fall down 7 times, rise up 8!

7) How long do you spend getting ready?

Maybe 20 to 30 minutes?

8) Who's your favorite blogger?

Temptalia! She's amazing!

9) Who's a blogger that deserves more views?

Totally Ivy From Style Life Lovely! Her posts are amazing and I'll link her blog here for you!

10) One thing your looking forward to in the upcoming year?

I have a really big dance at school this year and it is one of the only semi formal dances at my school and I am so excited to go dress shopping and do some makeup tutorials on that!

11) Awkwardest blogging moment?

Sometimes when I'm taking a selfie at school or something like that to show you guys my makeup and people walk by. It's just very embarrassing!

12) How long does it take you to prep for a post?

For reviews, it takes a while because I need to use it, test it, and take lots of pictures, but for hauls and tutorials, it's shorter because I just need pictures!

13) What do you wear while blogging?

Usually my pajamas if its late at night or my normal everyday clothes when its during the day time!

14) What are you most proud of in your life?

I am really proud of how I'm able to put myself out there and to do something I love because I know that a lot of people spend time doing what others want and not what they want and I love that I am able to focus on things that I love!

So that was my confessions of a beauty guru tag! If you are a blogger, I'd love for you to use my re-written questions and leave it as a comment below or do it on your blog and link it in a comment! If you have any other tags that I haven't done yet, also leave the questions in a comment because I'd love to do more tags for you guys!

OCC NSFW Lip Tar Review

Hi everybody!
I got the OCC all star minis X4 set from Sephora the other day and I wanted to review each individual lip tar! If you want to see the post where I review the set, I'll link it here for you guys!

The shade I'm reviewing in this post is NSFW. It is a bright true red. I don't think that this color leans more blue toned or yellow toned and I think that it is a very true neutral red. It is very pigmented and a little product goes a long way. The brush also makes the lip tar go on smoothly and precisely. I love the wear time on this one because it'll last 5-6 hours with minimal eating and moderate amounts of drinking and talking. This shade also stains a little bit after you remove it, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your preference.

Overall, I think that this product is great and although a bright neutral red isn't rare or anything, this formula is amazing and I love how it lasts a long time and doesn't feather or go anywhere when you're wearing it! I totally recommend this shade! Let me know if you have NSFW and your thoughts on it in the comments!

Hey everyone!
So I came across this TAG and I thought that I'd do it! I already did the I Love Fall tag so if you want to see that, I'll link it here! So let's get into this!
1) Favorite/Least Favorite thing about fall?
My favorite thing about fall is the scents! I love going into bath and body works at this time of year because spicy, cinnamony scents are my favorite! My least favorite thing is that in Hawaii, it starts the "wet" season, so it gets really rainy and humid!
2) Favorite clothing item for fall?
I have a pair of black ankle booties that I love, but I don't wear that much even in fall because boots seem so weird to wear in Hawaii, where everyone else wears flip flops! So either the booties or some sweaters from American Rag. They make great sweaters!
3) Favorite makeup trend for fall?
Dark lips! And this year, I get to join in on the fun with my OCC Black Dahlia lip tar!
4) Favorite fall food/drink?
My favorite food is candy corn! I know they have no texture or taste, but they're super yummy and amazing and I don't even know why I like it, but I do! My favorite fall drink is a chai latte from starbucks. In other news, have you heard that they have a chocolate chai latte on the menu now? I really want to try it!
5) Fall TV show premier you're looking forward to most?
It already premiered, but the one that I was looking forward to the most was Brooklyn Nine-Nine and I love that show!
6) Favorite fall tradition?
Pumpkin carving with my family! If you follow my twitter, you know that I carved Woody from Toy Story into mine this year! I'll link that twitter post here so you can see that pic!

So that was the tag! I'll tag a few people to do this...
Natalie (YoursTrulyNY)
Hope (BeautyBliss67)

Caroline (CaliJae)
Diana (MIS)
Jenna (NorthernBeauty85)
If you want to do this TAG and I didn't tag you, go ahead and do it and leave it in a comment below so I can hear what makes Autumn AWESOME for you! Also, follow my twitter because I've been tweeting all the time and come back tomorrow for a new post!

OCC Memento Lip Tar Review

Hi guys!
I got the OCC all star minis X4 set from Sephora the other day and I wanted to review each individual lip tar! If you want to see the post where I review the set, I'll link it here for you guys!

So this shade is memento. It is a neutral shade with a little bit of a pinker undertone rather than more brown undertones. I think this is a good nude shade because it is neutral without making you look corpse like or washed out! The texture of this one was odd. It was a little oily maybe and the other lip tars that I've tried haven't been. It felt really slick on the lips and when I wore this for a day, I noticed it fading after 4 hours with minimal eating and moderate drinking and talking, which is way less than the other ones, which last around 6 hours on me. I don't know if this is because mines wasn't fully mixed or if it is the actual formula. If you have this shade, let me know if yours is like this in the comments below! The pigmentation is wonderful like all the lip tars that I tried and the brush provided does a great job at spreading the product evenly.

Overall, I don't think that this is a great product for the price. Lip tars are pricey and if you want a nude, I would rather spend less money on a MAC lipstick rather than more money on this. I just can't get past that texture and feeling because it is so uncomfortable to wear! If you own any lip tars, let me know what your thoughts are on it in the comments below!

POP Beauty Aqua Lacquer (Floating Rose) Review!

Hey everyone!
I got the POP Aqua Lacquer in Floating Rose in my October birchbox! I already did an unboxing post on my october birchbox, so if you missed that, I'll link it here for you guys!

So let's start of with packaging. It is pretty trippy because it looks like a normal squeeze type lipgloss with a slant applicator, but when you open it, it has a plastic applicator. I like this concept because you can squeeze the tube to load up your wand when you start running low on product, but I'm not a huge fan of the applicator. It is sort of just a flat plastic thing and it doesn't apply the lipgloss well. It is a little too big for the corners of my mouth and it's just awkward to use. I would rather have a brush or doe foot applicator, but thats just my opinion!

The shade that I got is floating rose. It is a nice bright rose pink. It is kind of leaning on the warmer side and it has a little bit of gold shimmer in it, but its not frosted or anything like that. This shade is a great every day shade and it applies really well and doesn't get stuck in lip lines or anything like that.

This lipgloss is not sticky at all, which I know some people will love. For me personally, I like mine to have a little more of a tacky feel, but that's just personal preference. Unlike some other slick feeling lipglosses, this one has pretty good staying power lasting 4 hours when I do moderate talking and minimal eating and drinking. Obviously, it'll fade faster if you talk more or eat or drink more. It has a very cooling feeling when applied similar to the artistry lipglosses if you've tried them. It has a slightly minty scent and that is probably what gives it the tingle on the lips, but if you don't like mint don't be alarmed because the smell is very light!

So overall, I will rate this maybe a B+! I like the color and the feel of the product, but that applicator is just so difficult to use! Let me know if you've tried any POP beauty aqua lacquers and what you think of them in the comments below!
Love you all!

OCC Anime Lip Tar Review

Hey everyone!
I got the OCC all star minis X4 set from Sephora the other day and I wanted to review each individual lip tar! If you want to see the post where I review the set, I'll link it here for you guys!

This lip tar is ultra pigmented and is a bright pink shade! It applies very smoothly with the lip brush and a little goes a long way. The brush makes application really precise and its very easy to get full coverage. The shade isn't the most unique because it is just a basic fuchsia, but the texture of this product is really lightweight with a slight sheen that fades after a few hours. This product slightly stains my lips upon removal and I have noticed that after eating, it fades in the center of my lips, but not around the edges leaving a weird look!

Overall, I really like this lip tar, but I'm not sure if you should buy this particular shade because it is a very common shade (i.e. Maybelline Vivid Rose is very similar) and I think that there are more unique shades that you can get from OCC! But with that being said, this is a very great product! Let me know if you have any OCC lip tars and what you think of them in the comments!

Birchbox October 2013

Hey everyone!
I wanted to do a quick birchbox unboxing post for you guys! I know that most of the world already got their birchboxes because they usually get to people faster if they live in the continental united states, but I thought "why not!" so I'm doing this post anyways! So before I get into it, birchbox is a monthly beauty box where you get 5 products for $10. If you'd like to sign up through my referral link, I'll leave it here for you!

Benefit Cosmetics - Fake Up
I have really wanted to try this product, and I'm actually surprised that birchbox got me the correct shade! I think that this product is interesting because it has an outer ring with a inner ring of pigment. It's supposed to hydrate the under eye area. One small complaint is that this doesn't include much product at all! I thought that you'd get the whole stick worth, but if you twist it all the way up, it'll only be one or two centimeters! Compare this to benefit watt's up mini, where you get the whole stick worth, this is kind of a scam!

Liz Earle - Hot Cloth Cleanser and Cloths
I hate how they counted this as 2 products, because how can they give you one but not the other! I am actually running low on cleanser, so I'm excited to try this!

POP Beauty - Aqua Lacquer
This is a lipgloss and it is the full sized product! It retails for $14, so I already got my money's worth of products! I'm currently testing this out and I will totally review this later this week!

Chapstick - Hydration Lock
This was my birchbox extra this month, and frankly I'm actually happy with this! I like how they gave me something useful that I'm going to get a lot of wear out of!

So that was my october 2013 birchbox unboxing! Let me know if you subscribe to birchbox and what you got this month if you do! Also, follow me on my twitter because I have been using it a lot more frequently lately!

Sephora Colorful Duo Eyeshadow Reveiw

Hey everyone!
I hauled this eyeshadow recently and I thought that I'd do a review on it quickly as it is on sale on right now! Originally this product retails for $16, but I got it for $5!

So this product is around the size of one of the MAC large shadows. So you do get quite a bit of product in it! The packaging is plastic and it has a clear top so you can see the colors inside. Also, as you can see, the colors are separated in different pans (rather than both in the same pan). The top shade is a satin finish blue shade. It looks like a bright teal on camera, but it is like a deepened aqua or a royal blue in real life. The emerald shade is also actually a little bit darker, but its pretty true to shade in the picture! The bottom shade is a shimmery shade.

So these aren't the most pigmented shadows. The swatches on the right are heavier swatches that are built up, and the ones on the right are sheerer because they are only one swipe. The texture is really creamy and buttery and I love how they don't look powdery when built up! I also think its smart that they are sheerer because they can be used as a subtle wash or a full on bright color pop!

So overall, I like this shadow. I wouldn't have purchased it for full price, but I think that since its $5, its a great way to try out two amazing, bright shadows! Let me know what kinds of tutorials you'd like with this shadow and don't forget to subscribe to this blog for more reviews!

Makeup of the Night: Blue and Red!

Hey everyone!
So on friday night, I had a cheerleading competition! If you guys didn't know, I am currently injured and I wasn't competing, but I still put on my face of makeup to support my team! Also, if you want to know more about my cheerleading or life or anything like that, check out my personal blog, which I'll link here

I just did a little tinted moisturizer and concealer. I also filled in my brows and applied a peachy blush and a small amount of liquid highlighter to my cheekbones. I didn't do any contouring, and I tried to keep my face mostly neutral and perfected.

I started off with my nude tude palette. I took the gold shade all over the lid, and the matte deep brown and black in the outer V. I used a matte cream shade to highlight. I finished with a thin line of black liner on the upper lashline. On my lower waterline I used a navy pencil liner. Then I took a bright electric blue eye shadow and a angled brush and applied it to my lower lashline so I got a bright pop of color! I finished with a couple coats of mascara.

I used my OCC lip tar in NSFW. It is a bright red, but to give it more of a pink tone, I used my Cargo lip gloss in Route 66, which is a shimmery pink lipgloss!

So that was my makeup of the night! Let me know what you think of this makeup look in the comments! Also, leave some suggestions for posts in the comments too!

Makeup of the Day: Berry Lips and Cranberry Eyes

 Hey everyone!
I loved this makeup look that I did the other day so I thought that I would do a Makeup of the day post for you guys!

Once again, I'm just wearing a little concealer. No blush or highlighter for me (because I ran out of time in the morning to put some on!)

This eye look is like if my white eyeshadow tutorial and my cranberry smokey eye tutorial had a baby. I primed my eyes. Then I took a shimmery cream shade all over the lid. Then I took a taupe shade and deepened the outer third of my eye and my entire crease with it. I applied it heavier to the outer portion of the eye and crease! Then I mixed a cranberry shade with a little dab of a bronze shade and used it to deepen up my outer V, blending it into the taupe shade with a clean blending brush. Then I higlighted my brows with the first shimmery white shade and applied liquid liner and mascara!

I used my OCC lip tar in Black Dahlia. A review is coming on this, I promise! I used a sheer layer just so I got a berry tint rather than a burgundy, deep opaque lip.

So that was my makeup of the day! Let me know what you think of it in the comments below!

Korres on Hautelook

OCC All Star Mini's Review

Hey everyone!
So before I start this post, I just want to clarify that this post is on the all star minis as a set. I will do individual reviews on all the shades in the upcoming days, but this has been requested and I think that I have enough information and that I've tried it out enough to do a review on the set as a whole! So let's get started.

So this is what you get with the set! A small lip brush, and 4 mini sized lip tars. For your reference, a normal sized lip tar comes with 10 mL of products and these minis come with 2.5 mL of products and OCC says that this is a $34 value for $20 so this is a great deal! The shades that you get are Anime, a bright pink, NSFW, a bright, gorgeous, red, Memento, a neutral "your lips but better" shade, and Black Dahlia, a blackened burgundy red vampy shade. I think that the shade selection is great because you get a red, a vampy shade, a neutral, and a bright pink and if you mix the shades together, you can get pretty much any color that you'd need!

The lip brush is very good and applies the lip tars very well. It is very good quality and it isn't a crappy brush that they added in to make it seem like a good value, it is actually a brush that I'd spend my own money on, its that good!

You might think that you're not getting a lot of product, but you only need literally a drop to cover your lips and unless you're using these all day every day, they will last you a good amount of time! For size reference, I put a tube of lip tar next to my iphone (4S) so you can get a good judge of its size.

Overall, if you have been wanting to try out a lip tar, this is a very good set to get because you are getting some shade variations for $2 more than a normal lip tar. Also, I think that this is perfect because it is right in that price point where you can get this for a friend or family member for christmas! Overall, I think that this is a wonderful set and is totally worth getting!
Let me know what lip tars are your favorites in the comments below! Right now, mines is NSFW or Black Dahlia!

Sephora Haul!

Hey everyone!
I recently put in a order on and I got in my order a few days ago! Those of you following me on twitter got a sneak peek, but for there rest of y'all, don't fret because I'm doing a haul on all the items now! Also, if you don't follow me on twitter, you should! I'll link my twitter right here for you guys!

So first off, I had a code for free shipping with $25 so I used that as my code so I couldn't get any deluxe samples or anything like that. Speaking of samples, I'll start by sharing that! I got the Nest fragrance, which I haven't smelt yet, but I thought that I'd try it! I also got Benefit's Porefessional because I love benefit, but I have never tried it! I also got a YSL touche eclat sample because I was thinking about getting one as a gift for my mom, but I wanted to try it on myself to see if it works well!

On to the normal beauty products... I needed $5 extra dollars worth of products to get my free shipping, so I bought this sephora duo! It has a shimmery emerald green on one side and a satin cobalt blue (both sides are darker than in this picture). I think that these shadows are so fun and I loved the colors!

Then I got the OCC All Star Minis! It has 4 lip tars in Anime, Memento, NSFW, and Black Dahlia. I have been dying to try some lip tars and I like that I got to try 4 different shades for a little more than one individual full sized! It also comes with a great little lip brush!

So that's what I got from Sephora! Reviews will be up for the shadow and the lip tars once I get a chance to try them out more! Let me know what lip tar shade is your favorite because I think that these are such cool products!

Outfit of the Day: Burgundy Leggings

Hey everyone!
I wanted to do a post on this outfit of the day because burgundy is the color every single fall and I thought that it would be good to do a outfit of the day showing you how I like to wear this color! So lets get started!

This is a brown top. The front is loose and flowy and the back has a little bit of a dip and lower cut. There are also studs on the shoulders and I like this because it is longer so it covers my butt, which I like to do when wearing leggings! Also, I am wearing a cami with this top because it is sheerer so I need to for obvious reasons.

These are just leggings from H&M. They are a burgundy color and they are super soft and comfortable! I love them so much and I think that burgundy leggings is a good classic, sort of like black and gray leggings!

So that was my quick outfit of the day post! Let me know how you like to wear burgundy in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe!

Makeup of the Night: Smokey Plum

Hey everyone!
So I tweeted about my makeup last night and I asked if you would still like to see my makeup even though the lighting was weird and most of you guys said yes! Also, make sure to follow me on twitter for some random ramblings and updates! It's @a_modern_girl
So I'm really sorry about the lighting in these pictures, but its the best that I could do...

I used a sample of the Urban Decay Naked foundation. It gave light to medium coverage and it perfected my skin. I set it with a Physicians formula powder. Then I used Benefit's coralista blush on my cheeks and a little bit of a clinique bronzer to contour.
I primed my eyelids. Then I used a black base on my lids to help make the look even smokier. I took a shimmery lilac all over the lid and a medium plum shade on the inner and outer corners as well as through the crease. Then I took a black with red shimmer and did a heavy outer V, smudging and smoking it out. I took that same black shade under my lower lashline as well. I highlighted with a shimmery cream color and applied that to my inner tearduct area too! I finished with a thick line of black liner and I layered 3 coats of mascara. I also lined my bottom waterline with a black liner.
I just used a shimmery nude lipgloss, but I was eating at the party and didn't reapply so in this picture theres not much on there!

So this was my makeup of the night! Once again, so sorry about the horrible pictures! If you like these types of posts, subscribe! And leave a comment below letting me know what colors you like using in smokey eyes!

Outfit of the Day: Partying!

Hey everyone!
So I went to a party last night and I thought that I would do a outfit of the night on this! I really like this outfit and I think that it was really pretty! So lets get started...

This dress is black. It has spaghetti strap sleeves and a sheer panel above the waste sort of giving the illusion of a empire waist. The back of this dress is normal and that sheer panel doesn't go all the way around. This dress was a hand me down and I don't really know where you can buy this exact dress but I'm sure forever21 or love culture probably has something similar!

This necklace is from Jewelmint. I don't know the exact style, but it is a gunmetal colored necklace with some jewels and things. I think that its really edgy and pretty and I don't wear things this edgy much, and I was so excited to wear this!

I wore a pair of nude wedges from Payless. Its simple and like every single shoe company makes a pair of wedges like this!

So that was my outfit of the night! Let me know what you think of it in the comments below! Also, don't forget to subscribe to this blog!

Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips REVIEW

Hey everyone!
So I got this product in one of my birchboxes and I thought that I would review it for you guys!
So first! This product just sounds crazy! Like what's a nipple balm and why in the world would you use it on your lips?!? Well, it is sort of a multipurpose product like Rosebud Salve and you can use it on cuticles, elbows, lips, and any other dry or irritated spots.

The consistency of this product is pretty solid, it sort of reminds me of the consistency of Vaseline in the sense that it is solid when you first squeeze it out, but melts with your body temperature. It doesn't have any noticeable scent or taste, which I really like. Another thing I don't like is the color! Its like a yellowish greenish color and wish that it was another color other than this! I don't really know how moisturizing these are because while it seems to be moisturizing, it is also very heavy feeling on my lips and I would honestly rather use this on cuticles or something like that and use a EOS lip balm for my lips. Also, a little bit of this stuff goes a long way! In the picture, that tiny bit of balm that I used was more than enough for my lips!
Overall, I think that this is an okay product for cuticles or dry spots, but I do not like the heaviness and oiliness that I feel when I use this on my lips! I think that if you're really into balms or if you use rosebud salve a lot, you may like this, but if you don't then lotion, lip balm, even Vaseline can do what this product does!
If you've tried this product, let me know your thoughts and how you use it! Also, don't forget to follow this blog for more reviews!

Fall 2013 Trend #1: Warm, Bright Red!

Hey everyone!
I wanted to do a few fall trend posts in a mini series or something because although fall started in september, it really didn't start feeling like fall until this week! So I am going to do this post on a huge (and surprising) trend this season: warm toned, bright reds!
For years now, burgundy and deep blackened reds have been the color of the season. This year, this is shifting! Although red is still super in, the shade and tone has changed. This year's reds are brighter, more true red that even lean a little warmer toned or orange! I think that this is a great change because burgundy and deep reds can be hard to pull off, and this shade can look way more flattering and less intense! I thought that to help you embrace this trend, I'd share a few of my favorite products this shade! So I have three lip favorites and one nail one!
So starting with the lip ones...
If you want a true, neutral (not too cool toned or warm toned) red, you should check out L'Oreal Color Riche lipstick in 320 Red. This shade is perfect because it isn't really orangey or too warm, but is the perfect red! It is a little deeper than some of the more orange based reds and this is a shade that is a perfect red lip for all skintones!
For a brighter, warmer red you should use Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in Number 2: Flirty Kiss. This red is similar to the L'Oreal one, but it is a little bit warmer toned. It isn't full on orange or anything like that, but it does have a subtle warm tone that isn't hugely noticeable. This jumbo lip pencil also shows up as lighter than the L'Oreal one and is once again perfect for all skintones, but I think it will look just a little better on more tan skintones because it will highlight the goldenness of the skin!
If you want to subtly embrace the trend, try Maybelline baby lips in Cherry Me. This is a tinted lip balm. It does apply very sheer compared to the previous 2 lip products and this is a plus if you want to try this at work or school or if you aren't a fan of opaque lips! This is a red, but it has a little bit of a pinker undertone, which isn't really "on trend", but it still looks really pretty and especially if you have more pigmented lips can translate even pinker than expected.
My nail favorite is the Jordana nail polish in Ruby Red. It's a neutral toned red with some red and golden shimmer in it. This nail polish is so gorgeous and I think that everyone should get it because its amazing and cheap!
So let me know what your favorite reds are this fall in the comments! Also, don't forget to subscribe for the rest of my fall trends posts!

How to: Contour with Foundation

Hey everyone!
I wanted to do a quick how to post on how to contour with foundation because it is requested a lot by girls who want a more natural looking contour. This is also great if you accidentally buy a foundation a few shades too dark, which happens to me a lot!

1) Prime your face if you'd like to! I don't really prime on a daily basis, but if you do, do it!

2) Get your darker foundation (mines is a Becca Cosmetics sample) and a foundation brush (any brush you'd like) and do a few swipes around your hair line, your jaw line, in the hallows of your cheeks and the temples. Do not blend this out yet! You can also do a few swipes on the sides of your nose to slim it down.

3) If you want to go for a more advanced route, take a lighter foundation (lighter than your skin tone) and apply it to the bridge of your nose, tip of your chin, and cheekbones to be a highlighter. Once again, just swipe it on and don't blend!

4) Then take a sheer to medium coverage foundation that is your exact skintone and apply that to the entire face blending it into the highlight and contour foundations!

5) Continue to blend until all streaks are gone and you get a flawless finish!

So I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! If you try it out, let me know what you think and don't forget to follow this blog on bloglovin (link in the sidebar!)

Dupes for Mixing Palettes

Hey everyone!
I know that sometimes people will shell out some moolah on some mixing palettes for foundations or other cream products. If you're a makeup artist or a beauty girl that is willing to spend the money on it, that's great, but if you are more of a penny pincher rather than a spender, I have some dupes for you!

I like to use candle lid (like the ones on top of bath and body works candles) as a palette! Obviously you'll want to disinfect it and wash it with soap and water before using it, but it works just as well as a palette! It doesn't absorb any product like a paper plate or cardboard would, it doesn't cost money like some actual palettes do, and it is something that most people have lying around the house anyway! If you are not a candle collector, or if you don't have any candle lids, you can also use CD covers as palettes. These are plastic and usually clear. Once again, please disinfect them! But the one downside is that these CD covers are clear and I like my palettes to be more opaque so I can see the colors of the product better. Not a huge deal, but a personal preference for me!

So let me know if you use palettes frequently in your makeup routine and if you have any other dupes for plastic palettes!

Dr. Jart + BB Cream Review

Hey everyone!
I got a sample of the Dr. Jart+ BB Cream in my birchbox last month and I thought that I would review it for you guys.

This BB Cream is from a Korean Brand, at least I think it does! This BB Cream has a SPF 45, which is really high for a foundation or a BB Cream because most of them have only SPF 15 or so. This SPF is great for during the day because it will help protect against skin cancer and all that bad stuff, but isn't the greatest for photography because it can react to flash and make you look white.

This BB Cream has a slightly yellow tone, which I think is because it is an Asian brand and us Asians do tend to have slightly yellow undertones, but if you are someone with more pink undertones, you can also use this too. The consistency is very liquid and almost watery, and it gives a light to medium coverage, but can be built up and layered.
Overall, I like the coverage of this a lot more than most drugstore BB creams because I feel like this one has a little bit better coverage. I don't know if I would buy this just because I don't like to wear foundations or BB Creams or tinted moisturizer products on most days, but if you want something with light coverage, I think that this is a great product!
If you've tried out this product, let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below!

Makeup of the Night! Fancy Neutrals

Hey everyone!
I have a face of the day post for you! I've been doing more tutorial like posts recently, and I thought that I'd do a actual face of the day post instead! I wore this to a cheerleading fundraising thing at school where I needed to look really put together and flawless and I really love this makeup look! So let's get started!

I actually used foundation today! I used a deeper shade of foundation to contour with and I'll have a how to contour with foundation post up later this week! Then I used my Dr. Jart + BB Cream on my face just to even it out. Then I filled in my brows and applied a little bit of translucent powder over my face. Then I used Benefit Coralista blush on my cheeks and Satin Sparks highlighter from Skylark on my cheekbones! I went mostly neutral on my face with a slight coral flush!

I primed with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. Then I applied a shimmery cream shade all over my lids and took woodwinked eyeshadow (an antiqued gold shade) into my crease as well as the inner and outer corners of my eyes. I used tape on my eyes to get that nice winged shape and applied a deep bronze to the outer V. To deepen the outer V a little bit more, I took a matte black and gently tapped it onto the outermost edges just to give it more depth. I applied a little bit of black liquid liner and winged it out slightly. Then I applied false eyelashes to the outer half of my eyes and finished with Benefit They're Real mascara!

For my lips I used my Jordana Baby Berry lip liner! Its really pretty mid toned pink/berry shade and it is neutralish and isn't too overwhelming with my smokier eyes!

So that was my face of the day! Let me know what you think of it in the comments and let me know if you'd like me to do more outfit/face of the days because I would like to start them up again!

Benefit's Watts Up Review

Hey everyone!
I wanted to do a quick review on the Benefit Watts Up highlighter for you guys! This is one of the freebee that you can get from Sephora for your birthday if you are a beauty insider!

So lets start off with the packaging! Its really cute metallic purple and it is a twist up product, similar to the packaging of a lipstick. I like this idea, but that also means that the product itself is solid, which makes it difficult to apply sometimes.

The shade itself is a shimmery, frosty, champagne. It is pretty opaque in one swipe as you can see in the picture on the right, but can also be sheered out to a light sheen as you can see in the picture below! My one concern with this product is the mechanics of using it. It is very solid, so if you swipe it across the cheek, it'll disturb the foundation and concealer and all that. It's also too solid to work well with a brush, so it puts me in sort of a predicament. What I've found works best is warming it up with your finger and using your finger to pat it where you want it.

Overall, I'm glad that I have it and I do use it pretty often, but I don't think that I'll buy this with my own money because there are so many comparable highlighters in the same shade that work better! Like Mary Lou-Manizer is almost the exact same (except powder) and is a lot easier to apply!

If you have this product, let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe to this blog!
