Tips for makeup beginners

Hey guys!
So I just wanted to do this post on tips for makeup beginners because I thought that it would be useful because in all of my other posts, I write to the beauty junkie like myself and I wanted to do a post specifically for a beauty beginner. Also, I am not an expert at all so take what I say how ever you would like, but this is just my opinion! So here are my top 5 tips for makeup beginners!

1) Get to know yourself before starting
This may seem weird, but it is so important to get to know your skin before you start wearing makeup so you can monitor changes and figure out if a product breaks you out. I would just know your coloring like whether you are warm toned (yellow undertones) or cool toned (pink undertones). I would also make sure that you know your skin type. If it's oily, dry, normal, or combination. This will help you a lot when deciding whether to use powder or not and what foundations to use. Just know your skin so you can better address your needs!

2) Start out with the basics... and start slowly
I wouldn't try to do too much too fast because that's just a recipe for disaster. You don't want to dive head first into the realm of beauty, but you should take it one step at a time! For all of you beginners, I would suggest starting with a felt-tipped liner (jordana fabuliner is amazing) because it is easier to control than a brush tipped liquid liner. Or you could use a pencil liner if that's easier for you too! I would also get a mascara with a medium to small sized wand because those are easier to maneuver (maybelline "the falsies" is good). And lastly, some color on the lips! I would suggest going with a tinted lip balm because it deposits color, but is easy and goof proof to apply (I like baby lips in "peach kiss")

3) Just because it's a trend doesn't mean its going to work for you
I see people trying to do too much at school all the time. I am one of the people that pushes the limits when it comes to bright makeup at school and I get that, but there are people that are experimenting with a smokey eye that doesn't look that great and wearing it to school. It's just my opinion, but I think that you should do some basic, simple makeup for school, or if you're going to do a bright fun look, practice first to make sure it looks good on you!

4) Think about how long you're going to wear it
At my school, there is this girl wearing mascara and black liquid liner. That's fine and all, but by the end of the day, you can see the mascara transferring onto the eyelid and the liner smudging and traveling all over the eye. I just wanted to include this because if you have oily eye lids, you might want to use an eyeshadow or a powder to set it or use a waterproof mascara because you don't want to spend time on your makeup, for it to travel and migrate north and south throughout the day.

5) You don't need to spend lots of $$$ for quality... just do your research!
I know that in the past, drugstore makeup was considered to be inferior to high end makeup, but this has changed! Drugstore makeup is amazing now, you just need to know where to find it. I think that for lip products maybelline baby lips, revlon lip butters, l'oreal glossy stain things are amazing. For foundation revlon has some great ones (colorstay and nearly naked). Concealer: maybelline has some great ones. For eyeshadows, most brands are pretty good, but I think that wet n wild has a great color selection and most of their shades have wonderful pigmentation. And every brand has great mascaras, but maybelline and cover girl are my personal favorites. And if you're unsure whether to spend money on a product, google a review on it!

So I hope that this post helped you whether you're a makeup beginner or a seasoned veteren. Also, subscribe to this blog for more tips and tricks because I post new content daily! Also leave a comment telling me your top tips for makeup beginners.
