TAG: My Makeup Story

So I know that this TAG is really old and that everybody has already done it, but I just recently started this blog so I thought that it would still be fun to do! If you've done this TAG, link it in the bottom below or leave it in a comment!

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?

I was in dance since I was in Kindergarten (around age 5) and for recitals and performances we wore blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick. I wore this makeup at my performances until I was 11 or so. Then I became a cheerleader in 7th grade when I was 12 or so and for that we wore some neutral makeup with gold glitter eyeliner for games. In 8th grade, when I was 13 or so I started wearing really basic makeup like mascara and tinted lip balm to school, but in 9th grade (age 14) I started doing some heavy eye makeup and some lip products. I still haven't really gotten in to doing foundation daily yet.
2. How did you get into makeup?

I found the youtube beauty community in 8th grade and I started watching Juicystar07 and Allthatglitters21 and I became inspired to try and do some makeup on myself!
3. What are some of your favorite brands?

For lip products from the drugstore I love Revlon, Covergirl has been a go to for blushes and foundations, and Wet n wild has great eyeshadows. I also love Jordana eyeliners and nail polishes. I also love MAC especially the lipstick and lip glosses, but their eyeshadows are also great. Also, I love Benefit because their packaging is really cute :D
4. What does makeup mean to you?

It's my creative outlet. I am not the best artist and I never really fell in love with drawing or painting like some people, but makeup is great because it lets my face be the canvas and lets me experiment with different techniques and colors and it is fun. I know some people feel like they have to put on makeup or they are like its something that I need to do, but don't enjoy, but that's not me at all. I wake up every morning thinking, "what type of makeup can I do today?" and "how can I match my lips to my outfit" or something like that. It really is just a great creative outlet for me.
5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?

Some type of lip product that has some moisture (maybe baby lips), mascara, black liquid liner, and brow powder or something to fill in my brows.
6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?

I love how it can make you feel more confident about yourself. If for example you have a wider face, you can contour your cheekbones to make your face look sleeker. Also, it allows you to take what you are embarrassed about and fix it so you feel more confident in yourself.
7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?

I think that high end is where you get quality. You can try most things (to a limit) and get some great quality things, but at the same time I feel that you can get really disappointed if you get something you don't like. I also think there are comparable products to high end products that you can find at the drugstore especially when they are owned by the same parent company (ex. maybelline dream lumi concealer vs. YSL touche eclat)
8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?

Wear what you want to. I am the girl at school rocking the bright neon coral lips, when everyone else is sticking with nudes. Do what makes you happy and realize that the only reason people may judge you or make fun of you is because they have issues that they need to work out themselves. Also, practice! It took me forever to master liquid liner, but I kept trying (and kept the makeup wipes handy) and now it takes me literally 30 seconds tops to do my liner.
9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

Raccoon eyes. Where you have dark, thick shadow/liner on the top and bottom lashline. It's not that flattering and a simple smokey eye can look 1 billion times better than that. Also, dark lipliner around the edges of the lips because it looks scary and unnatural.
10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?

I love it because it gave me a great resource to try and learn different techniques. Especially Wayne Goss because he taught me how to do eye makeup for my eye shape.

So that's my makeup story! Leave your responses in the comments and subscribe if you like my blog!
