makeup of the day

Hey everyone!
So I haven't done a makeup of the day post in a while, so I decided to do another one today! So here it is! And sorry the lighting makes me look super tan in this picture and sort of distorts the color.

Face: I applied bobbi brown creamy concealer under the eyes and on any spots (I promise my review of this will go up on tuesday!) I set this concealer with a little bit of powder. I also used benefit coralista on my cheeks and satin sparks (from the skylark snowkissed cashmere palette) on my cheekbones.

Eyes: I used NYX milk as my eye base. I then applied MAC woodwinked all over the lid and I took a blackened brown with gold shimmer (crease on right side of comfort zone palette) and applied that on the outer third of my lid and on my outer V. I used a light yellow cream color with shimmer (browbone on left side of comfort zone palette) as my highlight. I also used MAC espresso to fill in my eyebrows. I went without eyeliner today, but I would use a black liquid liner and I finished with a coat of my covergirl lashblast volume mascara (I used waterproof).

Lips: I used my EOS lip balm to sheer out Maybelline vivids lipstick in "shocking coral".

So that was my makeup of the day! I promise I'll try to do more of these and whatever else you would like to see! Leave suggestions in the comments for me and subscribe to this blog!

Outfit of the day

Hey everyone!
So this is just a quick spring/summer themed outfit of the day! So here it is.

I am wearing a white cold shoulder top that has a little bit of sheer lace type detailing on it. This top is sort of high low because the top is shorter in the front than the back. Because this top was so sheer, I layered a lace bandeau from American Eagle under it.
My shorts are neon coral from macys. I showed them in my macy's haul, which will be going up tomorrow so if you want to know more about that, then watch tomorrows video!

So that was my fun spring/summer appropriate outfit of the day! I really like the neon coral shorts because it makes me look really tan and this is just a super fun outfit!

I'd love to know what you think of this in the comments and subscribe to this blog if you want new content daily!

Drugstore wishlist

Hey guys!
I thought it would be a fun idea to do a post on the products that I really want to try from the drugstore. I have tons and tons of stuff that I want so I'm going to limit myself to writing the top 12 that I want to try out because otherwise the post would be too long! If you have any reviews on these products that I list let me know because I don't want to waste my money trying something that isn't worth it! Also, please remember that I haven't bought or tried any of these products listed so I can't do reviews on them just yet, but I may go to CVS tomorrow and pick up a few!

My top 12 "wants" from the drugstore (in no particular order):

1) Maybelline instant age rewind concealer (under eye one)
I want to try this because everyone has this and I want it too! I think the applicator also looks quite interesting and I'd love to see how it is!

2) Revlon lip butters (creme brulee & the new ones)
Despite what you may think, I've never tried a revlon lip butter! I really want some from the new summer collection (I think Papaya looks amazing) and I also think that creme brulee would be amazing as my everyday nude color! Also, it helps that I've heard amazing reviews on these!

3) L'oreal color caress shine stain
This is a relatively new product and I would just love to get it! I've never tried a lip stain that I've liked and I heard these are dupes for the YSL glossy stains which I have always wanted to try! I really want to try the orange/coral shade and the berry one too!

4) Maybelline color tattoo (teal and beige)
I haven't tried any of these either! And I NEED TO! I've heard every single beauty guru rave about this and I want the teal one to use under the eyes or as a fun pop of color and I want the beige one for every day wear!

5) Maybelline color whispers
I also want to try this, but I've heard mixed reviews. I want the blush pink color because I think that would be another gorgeous nude color, but I also want to try out a brighter one to test the pigmentation!

6) Covergirl jumbo gloss balm (the watermelon one!)
I've heard eleventhgorgeous rave about these! If you haven't seen their review, I'll link it here. But I know lots of drugstore brands have brought jumbo lip pencils to their lines and I love my sephora one so I want to try a drugstore one too!

7) Covergirl outlast foundation
I heard this is a nice medium coverage foundation and I am a huge fan of covergirl foundations (I love the natureluxe one) so I thought that this would be one I'd like!

8) Maybelline vivids
I already tried shocking coral, for my review on this click here. There are also lots of other shades I would love to try from this line such as the red one, the orange one, and the rose one. I think that this formula is amazing and that I'd probably love everything I get from this line!

9) Revlon nearly naked foundation
This is a light coverage foundation and I just ran out of my natureluxe one from covergirl so I thought that I could try this out and see if its comprable or even better! I also heard some great reviews on this.

10) Revlon nearly naked powder
I heard this is a very finely milled powder so I think that it would be great to get because it won't show up on the skin as powder! I also need a new powder for summer so this would be one to try!

11) Maybelline baby lips (the coral one or the plum one or all of them!)
I have some baby lips already like the pink punch, cherry me, and peach kiss, but I want some of their new limited edition ones because they look amazing especially the coral one and I love baby lips!

12) L'oreal color riche balm
These are supposed to be similar to the color whispers and revlon lip butters, but I want to try it because I've been really into moisturizing lip products and I want to test this one out too!

So those are my top 12 wants from the drugstore! If you have any thoughts on these let me know in the comments and also let me know your "wants" in the comments too! Also subscribe to this blog for new content daily!

New product alert: Urban Decay 24/7 Liners

Hey guys!
I just wanted to update you on a new/reformulated product from urban decay. They recently redid their 24/7 pencil liners and added new shades and made their formula more pigmented. I don't have any swatches or reviews for you, but I know that temptalia and xsparkage have some. I also wanted to let you know that several shades are being discontinued (including my personal favorite, ransom) so stock up on those if you love them! Here is a post with all the shades being discontinued.
I just wanted to update you on these urban decay liners because I love them and I'm sure that you love them too! Also, subscribe to this blog for new content daily and comment below telling me your favorite shade from this line!

Tips for makeup beginners

Hey guys!
So I just wanted to do this post on tips for makeup beginners because I thought that it would be useful because in all of my other posts, I write to the beauty junkie like myself and I wanted to do a post specifically for a beauty beginner. Also, I am not an expert at all so take what I say how ever you would like, but this is just my opinion! So here are my top 5 tips for makeup beginners!

1) Get to know yourself before starting
This may seem weird, but it is so important to get to know your skin before you start wearing makeup so you can monitor changes and figure out if a product breaks you out. I would just know your coloring like whether you are warm toned (yellow undertones) or cool toned (pink undertones). I would also make sure that you know your skin type. If it's oily, dry, normal, or combination. This will help you a lot when deciding whether to use powder or not and what foundations to use. Just know your skin so you can better address your needs!

2) Start out with the basics... and start slowly
I wouldn't try to do too much too fast because that's just a recipe for disaster. You don't want to dive head first into the realm of beauty, but you should take it one step at a time! For all of you beginners, I would suggest starting with a felt-tipped liner (jordana fabuliner is amazing) because it is easier to control than a brush tipped liquid liner. Or you could use a pencil liner if that's easier for you too! I would also get a mascara with a medium to small sized wand because those are easier to maneuver (maybelline "the falsies" is good). And lastly, some color on the lips! I would suggest going with a tinted lip balm because it deposits color, but is easy and goof proof to apply (I like baby lips in "peach kiss")

3) Just because it's a trend doesn't mean its going to work for you
I see people trying to do too much at school all the time. I am one of the people that pushes the limits when it comes to bright makeup at school and I get that, but there are people that are experimenting with a smokey eye that doesn't look that great and wearing it to school. It's just my opinion, but I think that you should do some basic, simple makeup for school, or if you're going to do a bright fun look, practice first to make sure it looks good on you!

4) Think about how long you're going to wear it
At my school, there is this girl wearing mascara and black liquid liner. That's fine and all, but by the end of the day, you can see the mascara transferring onto the eyelid and the liner smudging and traveling all over the eye. I just wanted to include this because if you have oily eye lids, you might want to use an eyeshadow or a powder to set it or use a waterproof mascara because you don't want to spend time on your makeup, for it to travel and migrate north and south throughout the day.

5) You don't need to spend lots of $$$ for quality... just do your research!
I know that in the past, drugstore makeup was considered to be inferior to high end makeup, but this has changed! Drugstore makeup is amazing now, you just need to know where to find it. I think that for lip products maybelline baby lips, revlon lip butters, l'oreal glossy stain things are amazing. For foundation revlon has some great ones (colorstay and nearly naked). Concealer: maybelline has some great ones. For eyeshadows, most brands are pretty good, but I think that wet n wild has a great color selection and most of their shades have wonderful pigmentation. And every brand has great mascaras, but maybelline and cover girl are my personal favorites. And if you're unsure whether to spend money on a product, google a review on it!

So I hope that this post helped you whether you're a makeup beginner or a seasoned veteren. Also, subscribe to this blog for more tips and tricks because I post new content daily! Also leave a comment telling me your top tips for makeup beginners.

Lip shades for your skin tone

Hey guys!
So this is just going to be a blog post on the best lip shade for your skin tone. This will be part of my series on skin tones and makeup (I'll also do eyes and possibly cheeks), but I think that lip shades are less talked about compared to eye shadow so I decided to start with this. So let's get started.

Fair: I think that fair skin has it the easiest because most bold colors can look great against this skin tone because it is easy to contrast with. I think that lighter bold colors are better like a hot pink or a peachy coral color. I also think that fair skin tones look better with lighter shades like pink, coral, bright red as opposed to burgundy and maroons because those shades can look too harsh against the skin tone.
Try: Wet n wild lipstick in "pink nouveau" or Maybelline lipstick in "shocking coral"

Medium: This skin tone can also wear a lot of different shades, but I would suggest going with something red or orange based and warm toned (yellow undertones) as opposed to something with cool undertones (blue based). I think that corals look great on this skin tone as well, but instead of going for really pinky corals (like shocking coral) going with a orange toned coral looks better. I also think that fiery red-orange colors look great with this as well.
Try: MAC lipstick in "lady danger" and Maybelline lipstick in "electric orange"

Dark: This skin tone is the hardest to find great bright and bold colors for, but that's okay! I think that oranges look gorgeous on this type of skin tone because they make you look tan and gorgeous! I also really like nice darker red lips because those look really sophisticated and can make you look like a celebrity! I think the only colors that you should avoid are ones that are too light for your skin tone like any pastels or really pale nudes.
Try: Maybelline lipstick in "vibrant mandarin" and MAC lipstick in "Russian Red"

I hope this post was helpful and remember that just because a color isn't listed under your skin tone doesn't mean that you can't wear it! Also know that this is just my personal opinion and if you disagree that's fine! So I hope that you enjoyed this post and subscribe to my blog for new posts daily!

Makeup of the day: pop of purple

Hey guys!
So I know my last few posts have been videos, but I decided to do a normal blog post for a change! So this is a look that I wore to school the other day that incorporates some neutrals with a bright pop of purple!

Face: I didn't wear any foundation or concealer, but if you wanted to, you could. I have on a nice light pinky peachy blush (pretty peach by covergirl).

Eyes: The shadows I used were primarily neutral so I applied a medium shimmery brown color all over the lid with a flat shader brush and then used a fluffier dome shaped brush to blend around the edges. The shadow I used was the left crease shade in the wet n wild "comfort zone" palette. As a browbone highlight I used my MAC "brulee" eyeshadow, which is a matte cream color, but if you wanted to, you could also use a color with shimmer. For my upper liner I used a black liquid liner and did a thin line. For my lower liner I used Urban decay 24/7 glide on pencil in "ransom", which is a purple color with some shimmer and iridescence. I applied this to the outer half of the lower lashline and smudged it out with a q-tip (cotton bud). I then took the same liner and traced around my inner tearduct. This gives the bright pop of purple in the look. Then I took a pink tinged purple shadow and applied that over the liner to set it and make it look more vibrant. To finish the eyes I did 2 coats of my model co fibre lashextend mascara.

Lips: I finished this look off with a nude gloss. The one I used was shimmery, but you could do a nude lip or a pink lip with this too. I would stay away from red lips, or orange/coral shades because that might draw too much attention away from the eyes. The lipgloss I used was model co's "strip tease"

So I hope you liked this makeup look! Let me know what you think of it in the comments along with any requests and also subscribe to my blog!

How to: Use lipstick as blush

Hey guys!
So if you read a lot of fashion/beauty magazines like I do, you probably know that a lot of them say that you can use lipstick as blush. It took me a while to find a method that works for me, so I decided to share it with you. But first let me just say that you should not use any lipsticks with red tones (so like reds, corals that lean more red than pink, red-orange...) because they can accentuate any redness you may already have and make it worse. So here's the video!

So I hope you enjoyed this video and it helped you! Let me know if you have any video/blog post suggestions in the comments and thumbs up this video and subscribe to my blog!

Makeup of the day: Bronze eyes and orange lips

Hey guys!
So in the midst of all the videos I've been posting, I wanted to do a normal blog post so here it is. Today I wore a nice pretty summery makeup look that took less than 10 minutes to do. So this is what I did.

Face:
I didn't do any face makeup today (not even blush)

Eyes:
I applied a medium bronze color all over the lid and blended it into the crease. Then I took a light matte color under the browbone and a darker shimmery brown color smudged into the lashline. I applied 1 coat of mascara to finish the look.

Lips:
I used Jordana "mango" lipstick, which is a nice burn orange color with gold shimmer and layered a light nude gloss with shimmer (model co in "strip tease") over it.

So that was my look! Let me know what you think of it in the comments!

My nail polish collection

Hey everyone!

Mini birchbox.com and target haul

Hey guys!
So this is a very short haul video, but I wanted to post it anyways! So here it is!
So I bought and Alima Pure mineral eyeshadow in the shade "Paris" and it is a really pretty sandy gray color with the most beautiful micro glitter/shimmer in it  (there's a swatch in the video). This was $7.50 I think. I also bought a dual ended juicy couture roller ball as a present for a friend. It was $20 and it had juicy couture viva la juicy on one end and viva la juicy la fleur on the other end.  The last thing I bought was an EOS lip balm in "sweet mint". This is one of my necessities and I bought it because I lost my other one!

So this was my mini haul! Let me know what you've tried from Alima Pure in the comments because I'd like to try more from this brand! Thumbs up the video if you like hauls and subscribe to my blog for more posts!

So I have polls in the sidebar of my blog (if you didn't know) and the last question was about favorite drugstore makeup brands. So I just wanted to share the results with you!

0% of you think Covergirl, Wet n Wild, NYC, and L'Oreal are your favorite brands. I think that I would call Covergirl my favorite makeup brand though!
20% of you like NYX and Maybelline and think of these as your favorite drugstore brands
60% of you like Revlon as your favorite drugstore makeup brand

So those were the poll results! Please take some time and fill out the polls in the sidebar if you have a chance and subscribe if you like my blog!

TAG: My Makeup Story

So I know that this TAG is really old and that everybody has already done it, but I just recently started this blog so I thought that it would still be fun to do! If you've done this TAG, link it in the bottom below or leave it in a comment!

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?

I was in dance since I was in Kindergarten (around age 5) and for recitals and performances we wore blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick. I wore this makeup at my performances until I was 11 or so. Then I became a cheerleader in 7th grade when I was 12 or so and for that we wore some neutral makeup with gold glitter eyeliner for games. In 8th grade, when I was 13 or so I started wearing really basic makeup like mascara and tinted lip balm to school, but in 9th grade (age 14) I started doing some heavy eye makeup and some lip products. I still haven't really gotten in to doing foundation daily yet.
2. How did you get into makeup?

I found the youtube beauty community in 8th grade and I started watching Juicystar07 and Allthatglitters21 and I became inspired to try and do some makeup on myself!
3. What are some of your favorite brands?

For lip products from the drugstore I love Revlon, Covergirl has been a go to for blushes and foundations, and Wet n wild has great eyeshadows. I also love Jordana eyeliners and nail polishes. I also love MAC especially the lipstick and lip glosses, but their eyeshadows are also great. Also, I love Benefit because their packaging is really cute :D
4. What does makeup mean to you?

It's my creative outlet. I am not the best artist and I never really fell in love with drawing or painting like some people, but makeup is great because it lets my face be the canvas and lets me experiment with different techniques and colors and it is fun. I know some people feel like they have to put on makeup or they are like its something that I need to do, but don't enjoy, but that's not me at all. I wake up every morning thinking, "what type of makeup can I do today?" and "how can I match my lips to my outfit" or something like that. It really is just a great creative outlet for me.
5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?

Some type of lip product that has some moisture (maybe baby lips), mascara, black liquid liner, and brow powder or something to fill in my brows.
6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?

I love how it can make you feel more confident about yourself. If for example you have a wider face, you can contour your cheekbones to make your face look sleeker. Also, it allows you to take what you are embarrassed about and fix it so you feel more confident in yourself.
7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?

I think that high end is where you get quality. You can try most things (to a limit) and get some great quality things, but at the same time I feel that you can get really disappointed if you get something you don't like. I also think there are comparable products to high end products that you can find at the drugstore especially when they are owned by the same parent company (ex. maybelline dream lumi concealer vs. YSL touche eclat)
8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?

Wear what you want to. I am the girl at school rocking the bright neon coral lips, when everyone else is sticking with nudes. Do what makes you happy and realize that the only reason people may judge you or make fun of you is because they have issues that they need to work out themselves. Also, practice! It took me forever to master liquid liner, but I kept trying (and kept the makeup wipes handy) and now it takes me literally 30 seconds tops to do my liner.
9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

Raccoon eyes. Where you have dark, thick shadow/liner on the top and bottom lashline. It's not that flattering and a simple smokey eye can look 1 billion times better than that. Also, dark lipliner around the edges of the lips because it looks scary and unnatural.
10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?

I love it because it gave me a great resource to try and learn different techniques. Especially Wayne Goss because he taught me how to do eye makeup for my eye shape.

So that's my makeup story! Leave your responses in the comments and subscribe if you like my blog!

Spring Trends: Fashion

Hey everyone!
So I just wanted to do a quick post on some spring trends that I think are going to be big this year. This is my fashion post and I'll do a beauty post tomorrow or soon. So here it is.

1) Blush
This pale peachy pink color is going to be huge this season! I have already stocked up my fair share of this color in my wardrobe and I think its the epitome of spring because it's like the grown up version of baby pink!

2) Mint
This has been the spring color for the last couple years and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon! It is fresher than a pastel blue, but it also is still pastel so it's very spring. I am going to be rocking this color once I find a nice pair of mint green jeans.

3) Colorblocking/Graphics
This is a different trend that some people may see as more of a summer type trend. It is having patterns (geometric ones) on fabric and/or mixing different types of color. I think that the standard is going to be a black and white mix, but if you want to have fun you can throw in some pastels or some neons!

4) Neon!
I know this is more of a summer trend than a spring one, but you still have to admit that once the weather gets warmer the neon tops and shorts come out!

5) Lace
The most girly and sophisticated of all the trends, lace is going to be incorporated in lots more looks this season. A wearable version of this is lace shorts with a basic tank or you could do a lace back tank with some nice cutoff shorts.

So these are my top 5 trends for spring! Let me know which ones are your favorite in the comments and subscribe if you like my blog!
