makeup of the day: neutral with a twist

Hey everyone!
So I am doing a makeup of the day post on the makeup that I wore to school today. I did a neutral smokey (but wearable) eye and orange / coral lips.
For the eyes, I primed with my laura mercier eye basics eye primer. Then I went to my wet n wild comfort zone eye palette and put a shimmery medium brown color on my lid, packing it on enough to get a nice amount of color on the lid. If you want to know the shade, it is the crease shade on the left side of the palette. I then took a dark almost black brown with gold shimmer (right side crease shade in the comfort zone palette) and applied that generously to the lashline. If it isn't perfect, that's okay. Just make sure the color is applied heavily enough so that it can be smoked out. Then I took an angled eye shadow brush and buffed out the crease with a little bit just to blend it out and eliminate the harsh line. To blend, I used a reddish cranberry shade. (comfort zone palette right side definer shade). This also warmed up the lid a little and looked really pretty! Then I took the angled brush and just blended out everything on my eye. I held it vertical and ran it back and forth to blend out the liner shade and make it look cohesive. To finish, I used a light pearly shade as a browbone and inner corner highlight (comfort zone palette left browbone shade). I then applied 2 coats of model co mascara.

I just wanted a nice glow with this look so I used a medium peachy blush with golden shimmer. I used theBalm's hot mama blush, but you can use anything you would like to. I also used satin sparks highlighter from elle and blair's snowkissed cashmere palette. It is a nice shimmery pink champagne toned highlight color, but in a pinch you could use the same highlight color that you used on the browbone on your face too!

This is wear the twist comes in! I think that bright coral colors are fun, but not very school appropriate. I used Jordana mango lipstick and applied that generously to my lips. It is a pretty dark orange color with some golden shimmer. It is heavily frosted and this can make it look more of a copper color than true orange. To tone down the frost, I used model co lipgloss in "strip tease". It's just a sheer pale peachy color with subtle shimmer. You can play around with your lipgloss color. If you want your lips to look more like an orangy red use a red lipgloss, more pink toned coral use a pink lipgloss, more true orange use an orange lipgloss... Or you could go without lipgloss if you like the foiled lip look!
