February Birchbox

Hey everyone!
So I know that february is like over after today, but I still wanted to do this post on my february birchbox! For all of you that don't know, birchbox is a monthly subscription service, where you can pay $10 a month and get a box full of sample sized beauty and skincare products. I must say, that although I've read online that people didn't like this months box, I actually was really pleased with it! So let's get started...

Color club nail polish in "wild cactus":
This nail polish is a emerald green that has some teal and blue undertones in it. Emerald is supposed to be the "color of the year" and I think that it's great they included this because it's an easy way to wear this color. I applied this last night, so be on the look out for a nail of the day post with this later!

Lancome LA Base Pro:
I don't know if I'll ever use this because I am not a person that likes to wear foundation on an everyday basis. I think this might actually go to my mom!

Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft curls:
I don't really know how to use this product, and I don't really have curly hair so I don't know how much I am actually going to use it. I'll try to test is soon!

Vasanti Brighten Up!
I think this is a facial scrub or a face wash or something like that. I am actually really excited to try this out because I am on the lookout for a good face wash!

Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate and Caramel Square:
Possibly the best part of my box! I am a huge foodie and I love everything if it's covered in caramel! I think it's nice that they gave us a little chocolate for valentine's day!

So overall, I think that this was a good month. They included some higher end brands like Lancome and I got a nail polish that I am super excited for! Let me know in the comments what you got in your birchbox!

Product review: Maybelline Vivids (shocking coral)

 Hey everyone!
So I did a haul recently (I'll link it here) and in this haul I got the maybelline vivids lipstick in "shocking coral". I know that if you are a fan of makeup blogs you probably have already seen a review of this collection, but I thought that I would share my thoughts too!

So this shade is more pink than it is coral. I think that this is worth noting because if you are looking for a true coral or a more orangy coral, this is not it. I think that the finish of this lipstick is good and it has a really nice moisturizing feel on the lips. It also applies really smoothly and nicely and evenly. The color payoff is amazing and you can get an opaque color in one swipe! This color is pretty close to being neon, but it is very bright! I think that this color is really nice and if you are interested in a nice pinky/coraly shade this would be a good one to check out!

So tell me in the comments what your favorite shade from the "vivids" collection you like the most and maybe I'll buy it! Also rate this post in the bottom and subscribe to my blog :D

February favorites

Hey everyone!
So it' the end of another month, so you know what that means... time for my favorite's post! So let's get started.

My first favorite is the wet n wild 8 color eyeshadow palette in "comfort zone". This palette has a nice blend of neutrals, which some fun colors that I found myself wearing a lot this month! For a more in depth review of this palette click here.

My second favorite consists of a few lip products. The first is my sephora jumbo pencil in the coral shade. This is a really pretty coral color with some pink shimmer in it. I have been wearing this shade a lot. The second favorite is a MAC lustreglass in "springbean" It's a yellow green shade that looks a little freaky in the tube, but I've been wearing it a lot this month! I'll be posting reviews on both of these lip products soon so be on the lookout for that!

I also have a candle favorite this month. It's the Tiki Beach candle from bath and body works. I have done reviews of this candle here and here This candle is just really spring and summer smelling and is just absolutely wonderful!

My last favorite is a youtube beauty guru. It's gossmakeupartist and I'll link his channel here. He posts videos every 3 days and he is amazing. I think that he makes everything straightforward and simple!

So that's my february favorites! Let me know your favorites for this month in the comments and subscribe to my blog if you like these posts!

Makeup of the day: neutral eyes and bright coral lips

Hey everyone!
So today I did some easy neutral eyes and bright coral lips. I went shopping the other day and I am using 2 of the lip products that I bought as well as the Coral my world kit. To see the haul of that click here.

My eyes were really simple and was the same as this look that I did a few days ago. It is basically a shimmery champagne color all over the lid, a light brown in the crease, and a medium bronze color in the outer corner of the eye. I wanted to do a sultrier eye look so I used a dark shimmery brown color and smudged it into my lashlines (both upper and lower) to finish off the eye look I applied 1 coat of Clinique high impact mascara.

I didn't use any foundation today because my skin has been pretty good and I didn't want to do foundation today. I used sun beam as my highlight. I did a few dots along my cheekbones and blended it out. I also put a little on my cupids bow and down my nose. I really like this because it is shimmery, but not too light like some highlights are. I also applied a little bit of the coralista blush.

So I started by using the Maybelline lipstick in "shocking coral" and dotting it on my lips. I just dotted it all over the lips because it goes on a little sheerer and I think that it also makes your lips look stained instead of like covered in lipstick. Then I used my sephora jumbo lip pencil in 04 coral and applied that to the middle of my lips (both upper and lower) then I took one of my fingers and blended it out making sure that the majority of the glitter in the pencil is in the middle of my lips, sheering out as it went out.

So that was my makeup of the day! Let me now what you think of it in the comments and subscribe to my blog if you like it!

How I organize my makeup collection

Hey everyone!
So I went on a little cleaning kick this weekend and I decided to organize my makeup drawer. In this drawer I put my brushes, face, and eye products. I keep my lip products somewhere else and I can do a post on that organization if you would like!

So this is my drawer before I started organizing it. On the bottom (which is really the left side of the drawer) I keep some eyeshadows, liner, face products and random stuff. I have a pink spinny thing in the middle, which I think is supposed to be for pencils, but I had brushes and mascaras/liners in there. I also stacked palettes and put some random things in a little container.

This is my "after". I'll start from the left side of the picture. All the way in the back I have my foundation and some primers and sample size face products that I got from my birchboxes. Below that on the left are my 2 Mac Fluidlines and next to that are other liners (liquid and pencil). below that are my blushes and bronzers. Below that is my eye primer, lash glue, and tweezers. Then at the bottom I have a couple small palettes (eye shadows) a powder compact, makeup remover q tips and some false lashes. Then moving on towards the right I have a q tip container where I keep my sponge tip applicators and on top of that I have a powder. I keep my brushes and mascara in the pink spinny thing. I have a birch box top and I keep my palettes in there as well as a liner sharpener and some mac eye shadows. Below that I have a hand sanitizer a sunscreen and a face moisturizer.

So that's how I organize my makeup collection! Let me know in the comments your organizational tips! Also rate this post in the bottom and subscribe to my blog!

Makeup haul: Sephora, MAC, and CVS

Hey everyone!
So me and my friend (aka the other makeup obsessed person in our group :D) went shopping at our local mall today! We went a little crazy and we bought some things from Sephora, MAC, and CVS!

 Lip stuff!
So I finally found the Maybelline vivids collection at my local CVS!!! I got the lipstick in the color Shocking Coral because that was the lipstick that looked the prettiest and the one that I wanted to try first! I think I may go back and buy some more of these later! From Sephora I got a Sephora brand Ultra Vinyl Lip Pencil in the color "coral glow". Sense a coral obsession here? I put this on right after buying it and it is gorgeous and I love it! This was on sale for $5 so it was one of those "impulse" buys because it is cheaper than those revlon jumbo pencils at the drugstore! Lastly, from MAC I bought a lusterglass in "springbean". I wanted to buy this for like forever, but since it's being discontinued this year it was all sold out online. I really wanted to get it so I bought it from my MAC counter! I also bought a lipstick from MAC for my mom and it was in the color "hot gossip". It's a rosy neutral color that is a little deeper and really pretty. She can review that for you if you want! And I'll do reviews on all these products later.
So all of my face/eye products I bought were from Sephora. I got a glitter eyeliner in 07 gold because I needed a new gold eyeliner because we use this all the time in cheerleading and my other one ran out. It also helped that this was on sale :D At the checkout line there was this set from benefit called "coral my world" it included a mini coralista blush and a mini sunbeam. I have always wanted to try coralista and it was $12 so I was like, "why not!". I will also do reviews on all of these products later!

So that's what I bought from sephora, mac, and cvs! Let me know if you've tried any of these products and what you think of them in the comments! Also, please rate this post at the bottom and subscribe to my blog!

Mini Bath and body works haul

Hey everyone!
So I went shopping the other day with my friend and we went to bath and bodyworks. The 3 wick candles were on sale 2 for $22 and I had a coupon for 30% off so I got 2 candles for $15 or so. This will be a quick haul on the 2 candles I got!

I got the Tiki Beach candle. This may look familiar to you if you saw my last bath and body works haul (I'll link it here) and that's because I bought another one! I had the small sized candle of it and I really liked it so I bought the bigger size of it because I liked it that much and I didn't want to run out of it! The notes are toasted coconut, vanilla musk, and orchid. I think that fits the scent pretty well because it smells coconutty and a little floral. It just smells so good!

The other candle I got was Pink Sangria. This candle smells really citrusy and bright and really good! The notes of this candle is mandarin, apple, pear, and berries. I don't think that it smells exactly like that, but I do agree that it has a very citrusy scent. It smells fruity and citrusy and is a really yummy scent!

So those were the candles I got! Let me know what your favorite bath and body works candles are in the comments! Also subscribe to my blog and rate this post at the bottom!

Mario Badescu on Hautelook

Makeup of the day: super easy and super fast

Hey everyone!
So you probably saw the blog post that I did recreating Wayne Goss's makeup look. If you didn't, I'll link it here. Anyways, I was in a rush this morning and quickly redid that makeup, but instead of using my wet n wild "comfort zone" palette, I used a physicians formula one. So here is my look and how to do it!

This is the palette I used! I think it's called shimmer strips for brown eyes or something like that. IDK I'll link it in the bottom in case your interested. In this tutorial I'm going to use the lightest brown (brown on the farthest right), the medium highlight color (middle champagne color) and a deep dark brown (the farthest left brown) But you can substitute your own shadows for these!

Apply the champagne color all over the lid bringing it in to the inner tearduct area and under the browbone as well. This is going to brighten your eye and make you look super awake and bright even if you aren't :D

Then apply the light brown color into your crease and blend! Then take the really dark brown color and apply that to the outer portion of your crease and the outer part of your lid and blend it in to the lighter champagne color so you get a gradient effect on your lid. Also blend around the edges so you don't have any harsh lines.

To finish the look, I applied a black liquid liner to my top lashlines and a coat of mascara. I applied covergirl blush in "pretty peach" (for a review of that blush click here) and I applied a little bit of lip balm (clear) and a tad bit of wet n wild "nouveau pink" lipstick to get a "natural hot pink lip".

So that was my makeup look that's super easy, super fast, and super wearable! Let me know what you think of it in the comments! Also subscribe if you like my blog!

Top 3: worst dressed at the oscars

Hey everyone!
So my last blog post was the best dressed at the oscars. To read that post click here. So this will be my worst dressed at the oscars.

Helena Bonham Carter:
I think that she was going for grungy chic or something like that, which I think could work for her. I just am not the hugest fan of the neckline. I hink that this would look better with sleeves and a boat cut neckline. I don't know, this just looks a little weird and off and not that flattering on her.

Kristen Stewart:
I really like her dress, but I am not the hugest fan of the hair. The dress is so elegant and pretty, but the hair looks like she just woke up. I think that if she curled it or pulled it into an updo it would look so much better!
Melissa McCarthy:
I don't like this dress because I feel like it is a tad bit shapeless and makes her look bigger than she should. I think that its because she isn't showing any skin with a slit or low neckline and she is wearing a dress with lots of fabric. I thought that she was hilarious when she was presenting with Paul Rudd too!

So that was my top 3 worst dressed actresses at the Oscars. Let me know who you thought was the worst dressed in the comments and subscribe to my blog!

Top 3: best dressed at the oscars

Hey everyone!
I wanted to do my top 3 best dressed actresses at the oscars. I know that there were lots of really beautiful dresses at the oscars, but these are just my 3 personal favorites.

Amy Adams:
I love her dress because It is large, but the fitted bodice makes it look flowy and romantic instead of oversized. I also love how she pulled back her hair because it pulled the attention away from her hair and to her dress.

Jennifer Lawrence:
Her dress is another really pretty one. Like Amy, she has a fitted bodice that gets larger at the end. She also pulled back her hair and I really like how she didn't over accessorize, but just did a little bit of sparkliness with the clutch and earrings.
Jessica Chastain:
I love her dress because the silhouette is really flattering for her and the beading is really gorgeous. I also love her curls because it really looks "hollywood glam!" Her makeup is also really pretty!

So that was my top 3 best dressed actresses at the oscars. Let me know your top 3 in the comments and subscribe to my blog!

How to: fill in your brows (with powder)

 Hey everyone!
I recently did a blog post about how to pluck your eyebrows. I'll link it here if you want to read it! So this post will be all about filling them in.

First you will need an angled brush. Mine is a mac 266, but you can use any one you would like, just make sure it's pretty dense and stiff so that it can recreate the look of "hairs". Then you'll need a brow powder. I am using "espresso" from Mac (I have a review of this shade that I'll link here), but any matte color that matches your natural brow hairs will do. Just a note, if you dye your hair or you need a reference, for blondes brow color should be 1-2 shades darker than your hair color and for brunettes/black hair your brow color should be 1-2 shades lighter than your hair.

Then dip the angled brush in the powder and start filling in your brows. I fill in the "length" of my brow (everything except the tail) using short strokes going against the grain of the hair. I learned this trick from GossMakeupArtist on youtube because he says that if you go with the grain you're going to apply the shade to the hair and not the skin. How genius is that!
When you get to the "tail" of your brow, I go with the grain of the hair. I do this because I need to extend the tail a bit so I just follow my natural hairs and extend to the length I like. You can use brow gel (or a clear mascara) if you would like to, but I find that I don't need to use it with my brows.

Hope that helped you guys! Let me know what you use to fill in your brows in the comments below!

How to: pluck eyebrows

Hey everyone!
So I'm going to do a quick post on how I groom my eyebrows because I always get questions about this from my friends. I choose to pluck my eyebrows rather than wax because I like to have control over how my brows look and I want to save $$!

So this is how my brows start off. You can see that it isn't really shaped well and there are lots of hairs under my brows that need to be plucked. Also, please excuse my breakouts on my face!

For plucking my brows, I use a clean mascara wand (or a spoolie) and a pair of tweezers. Mine are mint green ones from tweezerman. Also, if your brow hairs are long, you can have a pair of scissors. I'll do another post on how I trim my brows later!
Use your mascara wand or spoolie and brush your brow hairs up. This will let you see the hairs underneath the brows that need to be plucked.
Take your tweezers and pluck everything under the natural brow. Then take your finger and hold your brow hairs up, and pluck the stray hairs there too! Make sure that you keep the shape rounded on the bottom.
Go from the inner corner of the brow to the arch and pluck above this. I like to have a really straight line here so I make sure that I pluck in a direct diagonal line, but you can pluck any way you'd like. Just make sure not to pluck too much, because this can make your brows look too thin!
For the tail of the brow, go above the brow and pluck in a diagonal downwards until you reach a "tail" at the end (aka taper it). Once again, make sure it's a straight line because I think that's what looks the best!
Brush out your brows again and adjust if your brows are uneven. Then fill in your newly shaped brows!

So that is how I pluck my eyebrows. I know that a lot of people don't pluck above the brow, but this is just what works best for me! So give me your best brow tips in the comments and subscribe to my blog if you like it!

Outfit of the day: casual easy school look

Hey everyone!
So it's time for another outfit of the day post. This post is going to be a little boring because my outfit isn't that unique today. It has been rainy in Hawaii and cold so I am wearing a pair of jeans and a hoodie.

I am wearing a top from forever 21. It is a normal shirt, but it's cool because the fabric on the back is textured and really pretty! I am wearing the purple jacket from my clothing haul (here's the link to the haul). It is a roxy hoodie that is really pretty and warm. I am wearing a pair of distressed jeans that are light wash from Macy's. I think that the brand is "dollhouse".

So that was my outfit of the day! Let me know what you think of it in the comments and subscribe to my blog!!!

Makeup of the day: tropical teal eyes

So the other day in my makeup of the day/how to do eye makeup post (I'll link it here) I said that I had a teal eye look that I would be doing. So this post will help you recreate it!

So this is the palette I used. I think that it's CVS brand and it was super cheap. I am going to use the white, dark teal, light blue, gold, and black color. All of these shadows have glitter/heavy shadow to it. Feel free to substitute your own shadows if you would like to!

I would apply a shadow base first just to make the look more vibrant and last all day. I applied the shimmery white shade all over the lid and also under the browbone. Build up the shade a little bit more on the inner half of the lid because you want it to look really bright!

Apply the gold shade into the crease. Also, apply the dark teal shade to the outer crease and outer half of the lid. Focus on building up the color. Then take a new brush (clean brush) and blend out the crease and the lid shades. You can also blend out the browbone shade too if you want to!
Take the black shade on a crease brush and "stamp" it on the outer corner of the eye. Make sure that you focus on the outer "V" of the eye and make sure that the teal color is still visible!
Blend some more!!! Take the same clean brush and blend the black color into the white lid color and the teal outer lid color. Don't overblend, or it will become muddy!

For a fun pop of color, take the light blue shade and apply it in the inner tearduct of the eye. Layer that a bit until you get a nice baby/vibrant light blue color.

To finish the look, I used a nice neutral pinky gloss (I used Guava from Stila) and I applied a peachy color to the cheeks (I used Immortal flower from MAC)

So that was my tropical teal eye look! Let me know what you think of it in the comments and subscribe to my blog if you like it!

How to do eye makeup: basics on lid and crease work

Hey everyone!
So yesterday, Wayne from Gossmakeup on youtube posted a video. It'll be embedded below for you to check out! I decided to try and use his methods (shown in the video) and do my own eye look similar to his! So I'll list the products used below! Also, I did a blue makeup look using the same technique so that will be posted soon.

So in this video, Wayne teaches you guys how to achieve the perfect eye and he makes it look so stunning that I decided to try it.

So I recreated this look using the wet n wild comfort zone palette. For a review of the palette click here. So I used a light cream color (browbone shade on the left) all over the lid and highlight and I applied the crease shade on the left to the crease. I applied the crease shade on the right and the define shade on the left to the outer part of the eye. These colors together formed a deep dark black with some red / gold shimmer. I blended it and finished with black liner and mascara.

So that's how to do crease work easily on your eyes! Please subscribe to Goss Makeup artist if you like his channel and leave your requests in the comments below!

Makeup of the day: gray everyday look

Hey everyday!
So I am doing the new format for my makeup of the day posts just like my last one. To see that click here. So let's get started.

So to start this look I put NYX jumbo eye pencil in "milk" all over my lid and blended it out with my finger. You can use any type of primer you would like!

Then I applied a shimmery light gray color all over my lid. I especially packed it on in the inner and middle parts of the lid because that's where the color is going to show the most.

Then I used a medium/dark grey color on a flat shader brush and drew a line in an angle upwards as a "wing" of sorts. Build up the color, but don't worry about blending it out or making it "perfect" we can worry about that in the next step.
Use a blending brush to gently blend out the color, but make sure not to blend too much or else it will look muddy or too light. Also, this is where you can build up the dark grey color to your liking.
Also, use a light shimmery color on your browbone as a highlight!
To finish the look, put on some liner and mascara. I kept my cheeks bare, but you can put on a peachy blush if you would like too! Also, I applied a neutral/pink lipstick (dark pink frost by wet n wild)

So that's my gray wearable look! Let me know what you think of it in the comments and subscribe if you like my blog!

Nail of the day: watermelon pink

Hey everyone!
So today I am doing a nail of the day post on these fun pink nails I've been wearing a lot recently.

I applied a coat of a hot pink nail polish to start with. I don't know what brand my nail polish is, and I think that you can use whatever hot pink nail polish you would like. Then I layered a melon colored nail polish on top. The name is actually "melon" and it is from the brand Princessa. It is a coral color with a really fine blue shimmer in it that is only visible in certain lighting. It is so pretty! Over that, I put a clear nail polish on top of it.

That is my watermelon pink nail look! Let me know what you think of it in the comments below & subscribe to my blog if you like it!

Outfit of the day: cute and comfy

Hey everyone!
So honestly, this is going to be a pretty boring outfit of the day post. It was really cold and I wanted to wear something cute and comfortable. I am wearing a sweater from old navy in a creamy white color. I am also wearing jeggings from hollister.

A styling tip when wearing big sweaters: I am petite, so when I wear chunkier knit sweaters like this one, I want to wear a fitted bottom. Today, this meant jeggings, but you could wear leggings or even shorts with them. I don't want to wear flowy skirts, wide jeans, or bigger (not fitted) pants because that makes me look shapeless and honestly, for petite girls, it's not that flattering.

So that was my outfit of the day!

What's in and what's out: from my dad's perspective

Hey everyone!
So yesterday I posted a mom's beauty and skincare favorites because it was her birthday yesterday so I'll link that here if you didn't see it! So today I wanted to do something for my dad's birthday and I thought that we would do a what's in and out post! So let's get into it...

What's in:
1) dewy, glowy, skin
"I hate it when people wear too much powder or they do weird stuff with their foundation and it looks cakey." To get this look, consider going powder free or if that's not possible for you oily skinned girls out there, use a highlighter on your cheekbones to bright light back to the face.
2) color!
"Black and white is 'classic' or whatever, but I think that your mom looks better wearing bright outfits." In this picture, I am wearing a bright dress, but I played it safe with a neutral belt and although you can't see it I am wearing nude wedges. Color is especially in during the upcoming spring and summer!
3) facebook!
"I recently went back on facebook and remembered why I love it." Facebook is so in! All of my friends have it and I think that everyone needs one regardless of age or gender or whatevers.

What's out:
1) Taking forever to do your makeup
"I love how your mom streamlines her makeup routine into less than 15 minutes! It is so much better than when it took 20 or more minutes." My makeup routine, personally, is 10 minutes or so (I'll do a post on this soon). I know that there are times that taking longer is better (i.e. functions, proms) but for everyday wear, taking longer than 15 minutes for makeup is out!
2) Sticky glosses

"I won't kiss your mom when she wears sticky glosses or weird tasting glosses because I don't want it to transfer onto me" Stay clear of super sticky gloses if you are going to be kissing people (although I love my stila lip glazes) and also don't use weird tasting glosses either! Sorry model co lip gloss, you're out!

So that's what's in and out from my dad! Let me know if you like these posts form my mom and dad (and me!) in the comments along with ideas for new blog posts!
